I-70 Accidents Keep Area Departments Busy
Thanks to the Fairview VFD, two accidents on I-70 this past week, kept volunteer fire and emergency squads busy.
Saturday, August 31, at the 193-mile marker east of Fairview, traffic was restricted to one lane in the westbound lanes. Fairview Fire and EMS units cleared the scene while the Ohio State Highway Patrol investigated the incident, and a towing company removed the vehicle from the roadway.
Sunday, August 25, Fairview, Barnesville and Bethesda units responded to an accident on I-70 at the 198-mile marker between the Fairview and Barnesville interchanges for a single vehicle rollover with possible entrapment. While on the scene, Fairview volunteers discovered one vehicle in the median with heavy rollover damage, that driver reporting there was a second vehicle involved.
Approximately three-quarters of a mile from the first vehicle, the driver of the second one had pulled over.
An individual in the second vehicle refused treatment at the scene while the driver of the rollover was transported by Bethesda EMS with minor injuries.
I-70 was restricted to one lane in each direction for a short time while the vehicles were removed.
