Florence Barnhouse

Florence Darlene Barnhouse, 84, of Bethesda, Ohio passed away on Saturday, November 2, 2024, at her home. She was born on February 15, 1940, in Middleton Township, Ohio to the late Bartlett Harrison and Lillian Gertrude (Wilson) Gorby.

Florence was a 1958 graduate of New Waterford High School. Florence was best known as “everyone’s granny”. Her greatest enjoyment came from her grandkids and neighbor kids but especially Max who could make her face light up with pure joy every time he came through the door. Florence enjoyed cleaning houses and you could always find her sitting at the table playing her favorite computer games and watching her game shows at night.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William “Bill” Barnhouse; ten brothers, Wilbur, Roland, Roy, Glenn, Harold, Herman, Lawrence, Floyd, Edwin, Clifford as well as five sisters, Myrtle, Helen, Dorothy, Hazel, and Susie; and great-grandson, Nolan Douglas Barnhouse.

Florence is survived by children, Valerie (Kriss) Gregor of Bethesda, William Douglas “Doug” Barnhouse of Bethesda, and Crystal Barnhouse of Bethesda; her three bonus kids, Terry and Ted Smith and Tina Martinko; eight grandchildren, Tony (Nikki) Gregor, Lacey (Bryan) Barnes, Hayley (Jason) DeVienzio, Jenna (Jack) Niggemyer, Brandi (Chase) Milburn, Nathan (Kelsey) Barnhouse, Logan (Rosa) Barnhouse, and Jake Toohey; 19 great-grandchildren; very special best friend, Finley Hatcher; and many nieces & nephews;

Visitation will be held on Saturday, November 9, 2024, from 10am until the time of the service at 1pm with Tim Snyder officiating at Bethesda Christian Church, 40601 Bethesda Belmont Road, Bethesda, Ohio 43719. Burial will follow at Ebenezer Cemetery in Bethesda, Ohio. Florence’s care has been entrusted to Campbell-Plumly-Milburn Funeral Home, 319 North Chestnut Street, Barnesville, Ohio 43713.

The family would like to thank the nurses with Amedisys Hospice for their care as well as the Wheeling Ultrasound Department and staff. They also appreciate Dr. Corey and the Queen for their treatment of Florence like family.
