William Roy Gummere, Jr.

William Roy Gummere Jr., 74, of Bannock, Ohio, died November 22, 2024, at his home.

He was born February 2, 1950, in Wheeling, West Virginia, a son of the late William Roy Gummere Sr. and Mary Jane Bethel Gummere.

Roy was a retired lineman from Ohio Bell Telephone and a member of the Trinity Gospel Fellowship Church in Flushing. He was a U. S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War and member of the American Legion. Roy was an avid bowler on two teams in New Athens, Ohio and a member of the Wolf Run Kettle Club. He enjoyed gardening, camping and St. Clairsville Red Devil Football.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Baby Girl Gummere and a sister, Linda Jane Gummere.

Roy is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Connie L. Groves Gummere; three children, Amy Gummere, Scott (Shelley) Gummere and William Greg (Leigh) Gummere; four grandchildren, Brittany (Zach) Pastva, Tyler Gummere, Emily Gummere and Kyle Gummere; two great grandchildren, Graham Pastva and Wyatt Gummere; two brothers, Richard (Patty) Gummere and Robert Jay (Kathy) Gummere; nieces and nephews.

Family and friends will be received at the Trinity Gospel Fellowship Church in Flushing on Monday from 11 a.m. until time of services at 1 p.m. with Pastor Gary Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Union Cemetery, St. Clairsville. Arrangements are entrusted to Toothman Funeral Home, St. Clairsville.

Full Military Honors will be conducted by the Belmont County Veterans Association on Monday at 1 p.m.
