Departments Respond to Chimney Fire. Sunday afternoon, December 22, Bethesda, Belmont, Barnesville, and Morristown Fire Department were dispatched for a possible structure fire, chimney fire. Upon arrival there was an obvious fire in the chimney, fire was quickly extinguished and contained in the chimney.
New Animal Shelter Planned
The Belmont County Commission discussed plans for a new animal shelter at their weekly meeting recently according to WTOV News
Since May 2023, the county has been working with an architectural firm to produce designs for the new shelter that will cost approximately $5 million.
The project is in the early stages and there is no set date yet when construction begins.
On Christmas Day at WB Marker 194, eight miles east of Hendrysburg, the Fairview Fire Department with mutual aid from Antrim and Barnesville Fire and EMS responded to a one vehicle accident for a one vehicle rollover with injuries.
Crews found a heavily damaged passenger vehicle with the sole occupant still in the vehicle.
Fairview crews used mechanical means with assistance from Barnesville to extricate the patient who was seriously injured.
Departments established a “landing zone” safely away from the Interstate for helicopter transport to a regional trauma center.
