National Day of Mourning Declared, Flags at Half Staff

COLUMBUS, Ohio — Gov. Mike DeWine has ordered Ohio and United States flags to be lowered in honor of former President Jimmy Carter, who passed away over the weekend.

DeWine’s order comes after President Joe Biden issued an order to fly the flags at half-staff for 30 days in honor of the 39th President of the United States Jimmy Earl Carter who died December 29th at the age of 100.

Federal Offices will be closed on Thursday, January 9, the day of the former president’s funeral in Washington, DC. Post Offices will not deliver mail that day.
