New Cambridge Paper Launches

A symbolic “ribbon cutting”  Thursday, January 9 at the Pritchard Laughling Civic Center officially launched The Guernsey News, a weekly newspaper serving Guernsey County.

Barnesville is now alone when it comes to losing local news coverage from Gannett, formerly GateHouse Media. When the company eliminated positions, sold the office, and practically eliminated all local news coverage by the Cambridge Daily Jeffersonian, Anne Chlovechok knew what to do!

As managing editor of the Caldwell Journal Leader and other publications of Southeast Publications that includes the popular monthly magazine “The Crossroads” and other specialty products including the annual Barnesville Community Guide, Chlovechok started “Guernsey News” in 2022 as a special section inside The Journal & Noble County Leader, the weekly newspaper serving Noble County.

This week, Guernsey News launched as a stand-alone in print and online newspaper as a weekly newspaper.

Chlovechok said, “Guernsey News is a locally-owned, locally-produced weekly newspaper serving the residents and businesses of Guernsey County and covering Guernsey County news and events.”

Noting, “we are experienced professionals with combined decades of experience bringing you local news, sports and events. The decision to branch out to Guernsey County was not made lightly. We have carefully planned each step to assure success in this venture.”

Heather Sevigny, who was once an employee of the Cambridge daily who has years of experience covering events and news and taking excellent photos in Guernsey County, has joined the new publication team, Chlovechok added.
