Tlaquepaque Mexican Restaurant Coming to Barnesville

When the local franchise for Kentucky Fried Chicken/A & W Root Beer closed last month, we shared word was another chain would lease the location at 1105 East Main Street.

Thursday, a temporary sign went up at the location officially confirming the eatery coming to Barnesville is a popular eastern Ohio chain, “Tlaquepaque Mexican Grill & Restaurant” that will bring some south-of-the-border flavor and charm to western Belmont County.

The much- anticipated opening of the restaurant is expected this spring for the company that is in a growing franchise to Ohio. Barnesville will join other Tlaquepaque restaurants in the franchise located in St. Clairsville, Cambridge (two restaurants),Canton (two restaurants), North Canton,  New Philadelphia, Coshocton, Zanesville, Heath and Pataskala.

The family-based business was established in 1994, also includes Pocho’s Tequila and Cocina in downtown Granville, home Denison University, that opened in the fall of 2023. 

Hearing of the sign posting, Mayor Jake Hershberg said, “from what I hear from the community, many are excited for another reason to shop locally and enjoy Mexican food in Barnesville! We are blessed to have many food options here including Pizza, Bistro, pubs, fast food, an Ice Cream shop, Chinese and soon Mexican food too”.

“I wish them a warm welcome to Barnesville.”

The extensive menu offers a wide variety of everyone’s favorite Mexican dishes and more including a kids menu and vegetarian options according to a seven-page menu for the Cambridge restaurants  that is posted online. 

The Tlaquepaque Mexican Grill & Restaurant location in St. Clairsville is open from 11:00 to 10:00. Monday through Thursday, 11:00 to 10:00 on Friday and Saturday, and 11:00 to 9:00 on Sunday.

The two Cambridge locations are open Friday and Saturday until 11:00.
