Donald Clarence “DC” Bishop

Donald Clarence “DC” Bishop, 91, of Cambridge, Ohio, passed away on January 30, 2025, surrounded by his loved ones after a brief battle with cancer.
He was born on January 30, 1934, in Monroe County and was the son of the late Earl M. and Elva M. (Stallings) Bishop.
Don worked as a self-employed painter for 35 years before retiring in 2009. He graduated from Stafford High School and was a proud member of the Elks Lodge in Cambridge. On July 19, 1954, Don married the love of his life, Martha Velma Lee, and they enjoyed over 70 years of happiness together.
Don cherished life, his family, friends, and community. For more than 12 years, he volunteered alongside his canine companion, Ruby, watering the downtown hanging flower baskets, which were always vibrant and overflowing.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Wayne Bishop, Glenn Bishop, and James Bishop; a sister, Shirley Stills; and his grandparents, Worthy and Malissa Bishop and L.C. and Sadie Stallings.
Don is survived by his wife, Martha Velma Lee (Carpenter) Bishop; two sons, Donald G. (Rose) Bishop and Scott D. (Julie) Bishop both of Cambridge; a sister, Mary Bishop; four grandchildren, Britani Lee (Jason) Galloway of Galena, Janie Lee, Woodrow, and Nicklaus Bishop all of Cambridge; three great-grandchildren, Lyla Lee and Bryson Dean Galloway of Galena, and Madeline Rose Bishop of Cambridge.
Calling hours will be held Tuesday (February 4, 2025) from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Thorn-Black Funeral Home, Cambridge, where funeral services will follow at 1 p.m. with Evan. Woody Biggs officiating.
Don will be laid to rest alongside his heavenly family at Friends Cemetery in Quaker City, Ohio. In honor of Don, personal condolences may be made by contributing to the Downtown Cambridge Main Street Hanging Flower Basket Fund.
