Mary Jane (Lupton) Greenlee

Mary Jane (Lupton) Greenlee, 90, passed away peacefully on January 28, 2025. She was born on November 12, 1934 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, where she spent her early years living on a houseboat on the Ohio River next to what is now the Steeler’s football stadium. She is the daughter of the late Ed and Mary (Beck) Lupton.
Mary was a fiercely independent and resilient woman who lived alone after her husband, Ralph Greenlee died in 1990. She continued to live alone, care for herself, and regularly drive and go to the grocery store into her 90th year. She did not want it any other way. She rarely asked for help. She would do it on her own!
She was a skilled doodle artist and storyteller. She loved to collect fancy dolls and play the slots at the “Downs.” She loved her dog, Bobo and her two parakeets.
Mary raised six children during hard economic times. With very little money, she remarkably kept everyone clothed, fed, and safe. Her children in order are Richard “Rick” (Cindy) Greenlee, Patti Barber, Bonnie (Jim) Templeton, Ralph Greenlee, Robert “Bob” Greenlee, and Ronald “Ron” Greenlee.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Betty Craig; a brother, Bill Lupton; and son, Ralph Greenlee.
She is survived by her five children; seven grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; one brother, John Lupton of Columbus, Ohio.
By her request, there will be no services. Wilson Funeral Home, Bethesda Chapel, 322 North Main Street, Bethesda, Ohio 43719 is assisting the family.
