Sandy Ridge Residence Gutted

Barnesville, Bethesda and Somerton fire departments battled a house fire at 60185 Sandy Ridge Road southeast of town Friday afternoon.

According to Barnesville Fire Chief Tim Hall, the call come in at 2:37 and “upon arrival the rear of the structure was fully involved extending into the second floor and roof area Somerton- Bethesda was toned at the time we were for automatic aide the Belmont- Morristown were toned for tankers also on scene Barnesville Pd and the Red Cross provided their canteen truck.”

The owner of residence Tessa Danford was at work in Wheeling at the time. She reported on social media her brother Russ Cunard was able to remove a truck parked near the house with a tractor but everything else was lost. 

Several dogs and one cat escaped unharmed, but several other cats are feared lost along with Danford’s African gray parrot that that her late mother obtained in 1996.

Danford thanked the Barnesville Police Department and Barnesville Veterinary Service for their assistance with the pets.

A coworker at Wheeling Hospital, Bill Tuefel, has set up a Go Fund Me account to raise funds to assist Danford.
