Swim Records Broken at Sectional, Many Move on to District

Sophomore Antoni Schuerle competed at Steubenville on Saturday.

The Barnesville High School Swim Team (2/9/25) This Saturday the BHS Swimmers traveled to Steubenville to compete in the OHSAA Swim Sectionals.

Coach Bobbi Johnson noted that a swimmer competes in sectionals and if they have one of the top 32 individual times or top 24 relays times in an area that covers East Ohio to Columbus to Athens, then they move on to OHSAA district swimming competition.

The Swimmers set two new records Saturday. Liv McCrate broke her own 100 Breaststroke record setting a 1:12.88 as the new record. The Boys 200 Medley Relay again broke their record with a 1:53.18 – Levi Geiger, Antoni Schuerle, Maddox Whaley, Conner Starr.

The team swam away with three individual 1st place finishes. Liv McCrate won the 200 IM and the 100 Breaststroke. Antoni Schuerle won the 100 Breaststroke. Both automatically move on to the District.

The team was amazing with many individuals as well as relay teams moving on to District that will take place at Ohio University in Athens on Friday February 14. Boys will swim in the morning and girls in the afternoon.
