On February 11th, the Union Local 7th Grade Career Tech classes along with instructors Mr. Meholovitch and Mrs. Kemp, visited an active Ascent wellpad drill site (near Cadiz).
Ascent representative, Brent Riggle coordinated the visit as the students toured and learned about the various jobs required to keep the multi-million site up and running.
Some of the jobs students hear about include drilling supervisor, field engineer, coil tubing operator, snubbing operator, mud logger, mud engineer, derrick hand, floor hand, lease hand, and roustabout. Students were able to climb the stairs up into the actual drilling rig operating station. The dynamics of the entire drilling process is like an endless science fair project.
