David McAlphine Taylor

David McAlphine Taylor, 84, of St. Clairsville, OH passed away on Monday, February 17, 2025, at Select Specialty Hospital, Wheeling, WV. He was born February 16, 1941, in Terre Haute, IN, a son of the late Kenneth and Virginia Hehman Taylor.

David was a retired employee from Consolidation Coal Company’s Ireland Mine and River Division. David proudly served his country in the U.S Air Force during the Vietnam War, and his community as a volunteer fireman for St. Clairsville VFD. He was a Christian by faith and a member of East Richland Friends Church.  David was a past Master of Belmont Lodge #16 in St. Clairsville and current member of Weyer Lodge #541 F & AM in Centerville. He was a Life Member of VFW Post 5356, as well as a Life Member and past Commander of American Legion Post 159.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister Nancy Carnes of Barnesville, OH.

Surviving are his children, Penny (John) Govekar and Heather (Shawn) Elmore both of Columbus and Chris Taylor of St. Clairsville; a niece Karen (Jim) Large; a nephew, Jeffrey James Carnes; great nieces, Morgan, and Rebecca.

Family and friends will be received on Thursday, February 20th from 5-8 pm, with Masonic Service at 7:45 p.m., at the Toothman Funeral Home in St. Clairsville where funeral services will be held on Friday, February 21st at 11 am with Pastor Kris Bright officiating. Full Military Honors will be conducted by the Belmont County Veterans Association at 11 a.m. on Friday. Burial will follow in Union Cemetery, St. Clairsville, OH.
