John “Mouse” David Johnson

John “Mouse” David Johnson, age 74 of Shelby, passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 6, 2025 surrounded by his family at home.

John was born on November 23, 1950 to the Glenn and Rose Lou (Thatcher) Johnson in Barnesville, Ohio.  On December 3, 1971, he married Cheryl Jenney.

He graduated from Barnesville High School.  Before retiring in 2019, he worked for A.E.P. for 48 years as a Transmission Supervisor.  John was a member of the Shelby Eagles, Shelby Legion, Moose Lodge of Upper Sandusky and Shelby Owls Club.  Throughout his life, he has enjoyed golfing and bowling.  He has been a fan of the Browns, Indians and Ohio State.  John especially loved watching his boys growing up playing sports. He will be missed by family and friends.

Those who will cherish John’s memories include his mother, Rose Lou Johnson; his wife of 53 years, Cheryl Johnson of Shelby, Ohio; his sons: Bret (Kim) Johnson of Perrysburg, Ohio and Todd (Angel) Johnson of Shelby, Ohio; his three grandchildren: Bre Johnson, Jake Johnson and Sofi Johnson; his two great-grandchildren, Nova Thomas and Wayde Thomas; his siblings: Sue (Mark) Tornow of Brunswick, Ohio, Tom Johnson of Bethesda, Ohio and Kathi (Rock) Santay of Marion, Iowa; his many nephews and nieces; and his life long friends, Terry and Wendy Craft.

He was preceded in death by his father, Glenn Johnson; his sister-in-law, Becky Johnson and brother-in-law, Allen Betts.     

Per request of John, there will be no services.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given in John’s memory to: Shelby Help Line Ministries, 39 Walnut Street, Shelby, Ohio 44875.
