Betty Louise Evick

Betty Louise Evick, 97, of St. Clairsville, Ohio, died February 21, 2025, at Park Health Center.

She was born July 27, 1927, in Wheeling, WV, and was the daughter of the late Lynn C. Griffith and Lucy Rowena Woodward Griffith.

Betty was a graduate of the Class of 1945 of St. Clairsville High School. After high school, she worked as a legal secretary for Thornburg & Lewis Law Office. After her marriage, Betty was most proud of being a homemaker and being a mother to her 3 daughters. When her children were in high school, Betty worked as a real estate agent with Century 21 Realty. She was a life-long member of the First Presbyterian Church of St. Clairsville where she served as a Sunday School teacher, choir member, Deacon, and Elder. She was a former member of the Tuesday Night Club and a life-member of the St. Clairsville High School Alumni Association.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Nick J. Evick, 5 brothers and 3 sisters.

Surviving are her three daughters, Darcy Porterfield of St. Clairsville, Jan (Doug) Short of Centerville, OH, Jodi (Edward) Cunningham of Marysville, Ohio, eight grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren with one due in May. 

Family and friends will be received on Saturday, March 1 at First Presbyterian Church in St. Clairsville from 1:00 p.m. until time of the Memorial Service at 2:00 p.m., with Pastor Ian Thornton officiating.  Arrangements entrusted to Toothman Funeral Home.

The Evick family would like to thank the staff of Beacon House Assisted Living, Park Health Center and Amedisys Hospice Care.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to First Presbyterian Church, 110 S. Marietta St., St. Clairsville, Ohio 43950.
