Linda Sharyn (Grubb) Lallathin

Linda Sharyn (Grubb) Lallathin peacefully left her earthly home on the morning of March 22nd, 2025, at 7:15 AM, surrounded by family. She was 78.

Born on October 19, 1946, in Akron, Ohio, she spent her childhood in McConnelsville before settling in the small village of Quaker City, where she spent the remainder of her life. The oldest of five siblings, she wore many hats, highlighting her later well-known attributes where she was recognized to be logical, determined, and on occasion stubborn, but also affectionate, selfless, and fiercely loyal to those she loved. Linda was an honor student at Malta-McConnelsville High School, where she took pride in not only her academics, but her learned skill of playing baritone in both concert and marching bands. Linda had the opportunity to march in the 1963 Orange Bowl parade in Miami, Florida, a memory she recounted proudly and fondly. Linda lived a life full of heart, warmth, and deep devotion to those around her. She was a beloved mother, Mammaw, Grandma Linda, sister, and friend—someone whose presence made you feel instantly safe, welcome, and loved.

To many, Linda was known as a firecracker—strong-willed, bold, not afraid to say what was on her mind. But to her grandchildren and many others who loved her, she was gentle and silly, comforting and kind. She was a safe haven—a constant in life who made everything feel right.

Linda lived a simple life, finding joy in the small things. She had a love for birdwatching. She made sure her feeders were always full so she could sit and watch them, often sharing little facts or pointing out her favorites, while drinking her morning… or afternoon… or perhaps mid- evening coffee. She wore Christmas sweaters almost year-round, a small reflection of the cheer she carried with her. She loved sewing, silly TV shows, late-night snacks with her kids and grandkids, and ice cream—even when she knew maybe we were all a bit too full for a treat. She’d smile and encourage us all to eat the treat anyway — “life’s too short,” she’d say, “one little treat won’t hurt us.” Linda attended East Main St Church of Christ in Barnesville, Ohio, for many years, where she found community and devoted time to her faith.

She is survived by her two sons, Bill (Mellisa) Lallathin and Bradley (Fiancé, Brandi Aber) Lallathin; her four granddaughters, Hannah, Abbey, Kaitlyn, and Kylie Lallathin; and three great-granddaughters, all of whom carry pieces of her spirit, her sayings, her habits, and her love. She is also survived by her sister, Peggy Grubb; her brother, Darrel Grubb; and many extended family members who adored her.

Linda is preceded in death by her husband of over 30 years, Robert “Bob” Lallathin; her parents, Kenneth and Maxine Grubb; and her brother Duane Grubb.

Linda, Mom, Mammaw, Grandma—we hope you’re watching the birds, surrounded by your doggies, and feeling the peace you gave so freely to others. You are missed beyond measure and loved beyond words.
