Donate Life Month Flag Raising

WVU Medicine Barnesville Hospital will  host a Donate Life Month flag raising ceremony Wednesday, April 2nd at 11:30am at the hospital.

The flag raising take place at the hospital flagpole located directly outside our emergency department entrance on West Main Street.

Speakers at the event will include:

  • Ann Marie Carley, living donor and ambassador, Lifeline of Ohio
  • Lindsay Dowdle, marketing and communications strategist, WVU Medicine Barnesville Hospital
  • April Lopez, donation program coordinator, Lifeline of Ohio

This is the first Donate Life Month event for the Barnesville community. On April 10 the featured speaker at the Barnesville Chamber Spring banquet will be Robert Horsey, novelist, screen writer, documentary film maker, and critical care nurse who has dedicated most of his 25-year career to the field of organ and tissue donation and transplantation. Horsey’s appearance is sponsored by Cheffy Drugs.

Flushing Man Accident Victim

An accident on SR 149 in the village of Flushing early Sunday morning March 23 proved fatal to 71-year-old Michael Barto, a resident of the village.

A vehicle driven by Barto was eastbound when the vehicle went off the left side of the roadway striking two unoccupied parked vehicles.

The driver was pronounced dead at the scene. The Ohio State Highway Patrol investigated the accident. Barto’s obituary was posted on Barnesville Area News this past week
