Violence Against Women Grants Awarded
COLUMBUS, OH – Organizations in Belmont, Coshocton, and Guernsey counties are among the recipients of more than $6 million in federal grants awarded by the Ohio Office of Criminal Justice Services (OCJS) to combat violence against women.
A total of 93 grants were awarded to organizations in 46 counties according to the state press release. Funding comes from the federal Violence Against Women Act (VAWA).
The Tri-County Help Center, Inc. in Belmont County was awarded $31,200 and the Guernsey County-based Haven of Hope grant was $56,604.50.
OCJS, a division of the Ohio Department of Public Safety, serves as the state’s lead justice planning office, administering millions in state and federal criminal justice funding each year.
