Glenn Allen Grear

Glenn A. Grear, 96, of Massillon, with his daughters at his side, passed away peacefully, early Monday morning, April 7, 2025.  Born in Barnesville, Ohio, October 18, 1928, a son to the late John and Mattie (Thomas) Grear, Glenn graduated from Barnesville High School with the Class of 1946.  He served honorably in the U.S. Army and retired from the shipping office of Superior Brand Meats.

A devoted husband and a loving and supportive dad, grandpa, and great-grandpa, Glenn was a faithful and active member of Faith Lutheran Church.  In his leisure time he enjoyed bowling and played on several teams.  In his retirement he was an avid reader and enjoyed a wide variety of subjects and authors.

Predeceased by his parents; his wife, Glenna (Brestle) Grear, with whom he celebrated 62 years of marriage prior to her passing in April of 2017; his sisters, Dorothy Browning, Waneta Gilham, Daisy Layman, Wanda Lynn and Lucille Miller; and brother, J.T. Grear; Glenn is survived by his daughters, Carolyn Brothers and Rhenda Routh, both of Massillon; grandchildren, Cody (Brandy) Brothers, Ryan (Cheyenne) Brothers, and Kelly Routh; great-grandchildren, Trent, Karlee and Dolan Brothers; and his brother, Don Grear.

Honoring Glenn’s wishes, cremation has taken place.  No formal services are planned.  Atkinson Feucht Hare Funeral Home in Massillon has been entrusted with arrangements.  The family wishes to extend their most sincere thanks to the staff of Amherst Meadows and Crossroads Hospice for the dedicated care Glenn received.  Your memories and condolences are always welcome and may be added here to Glenn’s on-line guestbook.
