Barnesville Boys Baseball Rankings
The Ohio High School Baseball Coaches Association released its Week One poll on April 7. The 2025 Shamrocks are currently ranked #8 in Division 5 in the state of Ohio.
After the first week of the high school baseball season 3-0 Shamrocks find themselves ranked second in the OVAC 3A standings going into the week.
Barnesville – 10, Bellaire – 0
The Shamrocks won their 4th straight game tonight with a 10-0 victory at home over Bellaire in 6 innings.
Casey Carpenter (1-0) was superb on the mound tonight allowing only 2 hits in 6 innings of work. Carpenter struck out 11 batters while walking 4.
Offensively, the Rox exploded for 11 hits. They were led at the plate by Brayden Watters (1RBI),
Caden Sellers (1 RBI), Jack Anderson, and Marshall Meade with 2 hits apiece. Casey Carpenter (1 RBI), Dylan Blon (2 RBI), and Max Miller (1 RBI) each added a hit apiece. Caleb Powell contributed an RBI.
The victory raises the Rox record to 4-0 on the season.
Barnesville – 4, Bellaire – 1
The Shamrocks notched their 5th straight victory tonight with a 4-1 win on the road versus Bellaire.
Keegan Martin (2-0) started on the mound and pitched four solid innings, allowing 1 run on 4 hits. Martin struck out 3 batters to earn the win. Parker Sobutka pitched the final 3 innings in relief. Sobutka held Bellaire scoreless while striking out 2 batters to secure the victory.
Offensively, the Rox managed 7 hits. They were led at the plate by Marshall Meade, Dylan Blon (1 RBI), Caleb Powell, Casey Carpenter (1 RBI), Blake Burkhart, Caden Sellers, and Jack Anderson each contributing a hit apiece.
The victory raises the Shamrocks record to 5-0 on the season.
Brad Wilson Shamrock Diamond Classic
Saturday’s annual classic crown was claimed by Olentangy Orange who defeated Riverview in the final game of the contest.
Olentangy beat Licking Valley 9-4 in the second game of the day.
The Shamrocks suffered their first defeat of the season in a 7-5 loss to River View in the first game of the Diamond Classic.
The loss drops the Rox record to 5-1 on the season. They will return to action later this afternoon versus the loser of the second game between Olentangy Orange and Licking Valley.
The Shamrocks were defeated in the Diamond Classic consolation game by Licking Valley 13-7. The loss drops their record to 5-2 on the season.
They will return to action on Monday at home versus Cambridge. First pitch 5pm.
Corporate sponsors for the 2025 Classic were Art Works, Convenient Food Mart and the Barnesville Dairy Queen. Support also came from the Baseball Parents Organization.
JV Baseball
Barnesville – 4, Steubenville – 3
The Junior Varsity team showed grit and determination on the road at Steubenville. . Trailing 3-1 after 6 innings, the Rox rallied for 3 runs in the top of the 7th inning to secure a 4-t3 come from behind win over Steubenville!!!!
The victory raises the Rox record to 2-1 on the season. They return to action Thursday on the road at St. Clairsville. First pitch set for 5pm.
