Monday, April 14:  Barnesville – 5, Buckeye Trail – 2

Barnesville Varsity Shamrocks Victorious Over Buckeye Trail
Barnesville Varsity Shamrocks were triumphant over Buckeye Trail 5-2 on Monday.

Buckeye Trail got on the board in the bottom of the fourth inning after Barnesville Varsity Shamrocks committed an error, and E Patterson singled down the left field line, each scoring one run.

Barnesville Varsity Shamrocks made the score 5-2 in the top of the seventh after a passed ball scored one run, Payton Dudzik doubled, scoring one run, and Ella Betts singled, scoring two runs.

Abigail Johnson earned the win for Barnesville Varsity Shamrocks. The pitcher gave up two hits and zero runs over three and two-thirds innings, striking out four and walking none. G McElwain took the loss for Buckeye Trail. The hurler went seven innings, surrendering five runs (four earned) on 10 hits, striking out nine and walking none. Peyton Loudin stepped in the circle first for Barnesville Varsity Shamrocks. The starting pitcher allowed four hits and two runs (one earned) over three and one-third innings, striking out six and walking two.

Barnesville Varsity Shamrocks amassed 10 hits in the game. Betts drove the middle of the lineup, leading Barnesville Varsity Shamrocks with two runs batted in. The second baseman went 2-for-4 on the day. Maddy Tyson, Loudin, Johnson, and Betts each collected two hits for Barnesville Varsity Shamrocks. Barnesville Varsity Shamrocks turned one double play in the game.

A McVicker and E Ashby each collected two hits for Buckeye Trail. Patterson led Buckeye Trail with one run batted in. The right fielder went 1-for-3 on the day.

Tuesday, April 15:  Barnesville – 16, Monroe Central – 15

Chaela Smolira drove in five runs with a single, two doubles and a homerun as the Shamrocks beat the Monroe Centra Seminoles by a 16-15 score Tuesday night in Woodsfield.  Payton Dudzik also knocked in five with a single and home run.

Payton Loudin, winning pitcher in relief, also hit a two-run homer. Maddy Tyson singled three times and doubled once.

April 15: Barnesville – 11, Cambridge – 4

Payton Dudzik With 3 Hits as Barnesville Varsity Shamrocks Beat Cambridge

Payton Dudzik collected three hits in four at bats, as Barnesville Varsity Shamrocks defeated Cambridge 12-1 on Wednesday. Dudzik hit a home run to center field in the first inning, doubled in the fifth inning, and singled in the third inning.

Barnesville Varsity Shamrocks scored seven runs in the third inning on the way to victory.  Chae Smolira singled, scoring three runs, Kylee Powell singled, scoring one run, and Peyton Loudin homered to left field, scoring three runs.

Barnesville Varsity Shamrocks opened the scoring in the first after Dudzik homered to center field, scoring two runs.

Ella Betts earned the win for Barnesville Varsity Shamrocks. The starting pitcher allowed three hits and one run over five innings, striking out seven and walking two. L Harper took the loss for Cambridge. The pitcher went five innings, surrendering 12 runs (nine earned) on 10 hits, striking out four and walking three.

Barnesville Varsity Shamrocks piled up 10 hits in the game. Smolira, Loudin, and Dudzik each drove in three runs for Barnesville Varsity Shamrocks. Barnesville Varsity Shamrocks turned one double play in the game.

M Cole, C Moore, and C Davis each collected one hit for Cambridge. Davis went 1-for-2 at the plate and led the team with one run batted in.

Barnesville Varsity Shamrocks welcome Martins Ferry on Friday for their next game.

Second-Inning Spurt Lead Barnesville Varsity Shamrocks Past Cambridge

Barnesville Varsity Shamrocks scored seven runs in the second inning, which helped them defeat Cambridge 11-4 on Monday.  Ella Betts tripled, scoring one run, Kylee Powell singled, scoring one run, Peyton Loudin singled, scoring one run, Abigail Johnson singled, scoring two runs, an error scored one run, and Betts singled, scoring one run.

Cambridge got on the board in the top of the second inning after B Kenworthy tripled down the right field line, and A Smith grounded out, each scoring one run.

Loudin earned the win for Barnesville Varsity Shamrocks. The hurler gave up six hits and four runs (two earned) over seven innings, striking out five and walking four. L Harper took the loss for Cambridge. The starter went six innings, surrendering 11 runs (two earned) on nine hits, striking out four and walking one.

Maddy Tyson and Betts each collected two hits for Barnesville Varsity Shamrocks. Johnson and Betts each drove in two runs for Barnesville Varsity Shamrocks. Tyson stole two bases. Barnesville Varsity Shamrocks ran wild on the base paths, piling up four stolen bases for the game.

Kenworthy drove the middle of the lineup, leading Cambridge with two runs batted in. The infielder went 2-for-4 on the day. M Cole, Harper, and Kenworthy each collected two hits for Cambridge. Cambridge turned one double play in the game.

Friday, April 18: Martins Ferry – 10, Barnesville – 3

The Martins Ferry Purple Riders defeated Barnesville in a battle of twelve-win teams on Friday. The Purple Riders beat the Shamrocks, 10-3, for their thirteenth win of the season.

The two teams will meet again this coming Monday, April 21. The first  

Barnesville falls to 12-3 on the year and will now prepare to take on the Purple Riders at Martins Ferry on Monday evening, April 21 at 5:00 in Martins Ferry.
