Excerpts from the Barnesville Police Department log April 14 through April 20 are reported below.
Monday, April 14, 2025
8:11 am – vehicle lockout North Street.
9:17 am – West Church Street. Elementary School staff reported a student brought a gun to school.
9:21 am – caller advised that a person from Mingo Junction came to her place and did a few odd jobs then left taking her car.
1:51 pm – person called to advise she received another text message related to person taking car. She said she called Mingo Junction to check if the vehicle is there.
2:43 pm – called to let owners know their dogs is out. Spoke to owners and will attempt to keep them inside or if they are out will keep them restrained.
3:37 pm – female at station in reference to a road rage incident that happened on State Route 800 North. Officer at station who talked to her and advised to contact the State Patrol.
4:08 pm – Person called back in reference to possible stolen vehicle. Officer checked areas and did not locate it.
5:19 pm – alarm drop on East Main Street. Silent panic alarm company called premises and employee did not give a pass code and hung up on the alarm company. Everything checked out okay.
5:46 pm – caller called back in reference to possible stolen vehicle and said she called her local agency.
Tuesday, April 15, 2025
12:25 am – traffic stop, West Main Street. Warning given for traffic control device.
9:16 am – 911 hangup Watt Avenue. 911 called and advised they are receiving calls pinging near Watt Avenue. They can hear chainsaws in the background. Possibly just getting pocket dialed. 911 talked to the person who did not mean to dial 911.
4:53 pm – sheriff’s department requesting and officer to respond to the area by 800 and I-70.
4:58 pm – caller asked about fingerprint cards and was giving information.
6:00 pm – vehicle lockout Hunts Avenue.
7:39 pm – caller states that she and her boyfriend split up and he is keeping her items. Advised her this is a civil issue, and she would need to go through a civil court or contact an attorney. Advised her the police does not get involved in civil disputes.
10:29 pm – Morgantown Avenue, out assisting squad.
Wednesday, April 16, 2025
10:00 am – East Main Street, Door open and keys in lock and no one around. Locked unit and brought keys to station to place in lost and found.
11:58 am – East Main Street, Emergency Squad. Male having a seizure along the roadway. The person fell and was injured.
3:17 pm – Officer was advised that a vehicle ran by school bus with lights on at Morgantown Avenue or Pine Lane.
4:13 pm – follow up investigation, Shamrock Drive. At bus garage to follow up in reference to the earlier complaint. Spoke to the bus driver and she gave her statement form. She will be completing and dropping off tomorrow.
5:52 pm – animal call on North Chestnut Street where a Sandhill crane is walking about.
11:41 pm – assault on West Main Street. 911 requested an officer respond to a person being assaulted. Squad on scene.
Thursday, April 17, 2025
3:04 am – investigate complaint on Ohio Street. Smoke smell in the area. Possibly someone using a wood burner. Could not find the source and Fire Chief agreed it smelled like a wood burner.
5:19 am – traffic stop on Somerton Highway at Fairyland.
6:41 am – suspicious vehicle on Main Street. Ohio State Patrol advised a vehicle that might be coming into Barnesville going fast and crossing double yellow line. Officer posted at Dollar General but negative contact with the vehicle.
8:41 am – investigate complaint at station. Person advised of work that he had done at a St. Clairsville business.
9:55 am – officer at elementary School following up to school bus light complaint.
10:12 am – welfare check. Woman advised man sounded out of breath on call and stated his oxygen tank level was messed up. The caller advised dispatcher would transfer her to 911 due to appears to be a medical emergency.
10:55 am – follow up to school bus light complaint.
11:31 am – follow up to school bus light complaint.
2:20 pm – juvenile reportedly did not come home after school. Juvenile was located and dropped off.
2:32 pm – caller aside for information on an accident report from 11-09-22 on highway 409. Advised caller he reached Barnesville, Ohio. He apologized meant to call Barnesville, Maryland.
2:56 pm – traffic stop, South Chestnut Street. Warrant confirmed.
4:17 pm – investigate complaint. Male at station speaking to officer.
5:18 pm – person called stating that he got a call from police. Dispatcher advised that we hadn’t heard anything. Officer asked if he made the call and he said he wasn’t sure.
7:12 pm – follow up investigation on West Main Street.
7:51 pm – disabled vehicle on South Gardner Street.
8:12 pm – caller asking if anyone reported a fire on Gobblers Knob. Transferred caller to 911.
8:19 pm – Fire Chief Hall asked that an officer go to a possible brush fire on Gobblers Knob Road with department. 911 asked local officers to go out until the Sheriff’s department arrives.
9:11 pm – investigate complaint on North Broadway Street. Female states her husband is getting threatening texts.
9:37 pm – follow up investigation on Wiley Avenue regarding a previous log.
9:49 pm – miscellaneous call from East Main Street requesting a welfare check. A person was supposed to pick her up but didn’t and is not answering the phone call. Negative contact. One vehicle is missing from the address and the person may be out and about somewhere.
11:43 pm – caller wanting to speak to officer.

4:39 am – Officer at McDonald’s picking up statement for follow up.
8:31 am – person at station wanting to speak to an officer regarding an incident that occurred on State Route 800 last Friday.
9:29 am – caller wanting to make us aware at approximately 8:45 am this morning there was a male at a store that appeared to be under the influence of drugs.
12:34 pm – investigate complaint at Depot regarding construction going on. Trucks are hauling and loading gravel and creating a lot of dust. Officer on scene who spoke to a manager about the complaint.
1:39 pm – investigate complaint on South Lincoln Avenue. Vehicle parked in alley across from the entrance to the Southern Cemetery that runs to Franklin Street. Vehicle was moved on officer’s arrival.
9:19 pm – person at station competing a report.
9:46 pm – investigate complaint on Henderson Street. Report of vehicles blocking alley way.
9:58 pm – investigate complaint on Franklin Street. 911 requested a squad to Franklin Street for a medical issue.
11:10 pm – follow up investigation on Henderson Street.
11:47 pm – traffic stop, North Broadway Street. Enroute for test.
Saturday, April 19, 2025
8:21 am – man at station needing a form signed. Office signed form.
11:14 am – traffic stop on South Chestnut Street. Officer gave a warning for loud exhaust.
1:45 pm – vehicle lockout on North Broadway Street.
4:44 pm – female at station reporting a low telephone line hanging between Dairy Queen and Warren Avenue.
4:51 pm – investigate complaint on West Main Street. 911 dispatcher reported a female went to the emergency room that had rolled her side by side on a dirt road. Dispatcher asked if we could send someone out to get more information. This accident happened 20 minutes outside of town.
4:54 pm – East Main Street. Caller reported a vehicle accident in the area. They said it appeared that someone had rear ended someone else. Officer advised that there is no accidents there.
5:54 pm – domestic trouble on Bethesda Street. Mother called stating her son is beating up his girlfriend.
10:51 pm – traffic stop on Chestnut Ridge Road. Warning given.
11:59 pm – Call to South Chestnut Street where a person lying on the sidewalk.

5:40 am – emergency squad on Fairmont Avenue. Officer out with squad.
9:35 am – Bethesda Street. Police assisting squad for a person has injuries from a fall.
9:56 am – traffic stop on South Chestnut Street. A warning given for improper display.
11:51 am – traffic stop on Douglas Road. Officer gave warning for cracked windshield.
1:11 pm – traffic stop on South Chestnut Street. Warning was given for speed.
1:36 pm – Traffic stop on Sycamore Street. A warning was given for speed. 5:12 pm – caller indicates her son’s fiancé left house at East Main Street sometime last night on foot traveling in an unknown direction. Called back and advised that she has been found.
