Janet D. Jarrett

Janet D. (Smithson) Jarrett, 88, of Cambridge, passed away Monday, May 5, 2025, at Embassy of Cambridge.

She was born August 3, 1936, a daughter of the late John and Myrtle (Crowder) Smith.

Janet worked for Zayre Department Store as a part-time merchandiser for 15 years and also worked in the Daily Jeffersonian mail room. She attended Bible Baptist Church in Byesville and one of the great joys in her life was time spent with her church family. Janet enjoyed tending her flowers and her garden and loved her cats dearly.  She loved word searches, and cherished time with loved ones.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sons, Todd and Steven Jarrett; a grandson, Jayten Jarrett; two sisters, Jean Lathey and Marion Smithson, an infant brother, and her son-in-law, Larry Harding Jr.

Left to cherish her memory are a son, Donald R. (& Robin) Jarrett of Jacksonville, FL; three daughters, Cindy Harding and Debby Perkins, both of Cambridge, and Becky (&Al) Conley of Belmont; eleven grandchildren, Amy, Christie, Rachel, Matt, Dylan, Brandon, Kristin, Christopher, Tiffany, Kolton and Kaiden; twelve great-grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews and good friends.

A graveside service will be held on Friday, May 9th, at 11 am, at Guernsey County Memory Gardens in Cambridge, with Pastor Steve Leathley officiating. 

The family would like to extend a special thanks to the Embassy of Cambridge for their care and support.
