In the Seen and Heard Department, this wonderful World War II Board hanging in the basement of the Barnesville Church of the Assumption honored parish sons who were in the service at that time.
At that time, there were 88 young men of church families fighting the Axis Powers in Europe, Africa and the South Pacific.
Eighty years ago this week, May 8, 1945, Germany surrendered. Japan hung on a little longer folding on August 6, 1945 with their formal surrender taking place on the USS Missouri on September 2.
