Five File for Four Council Seats

ST. CLAIRSVILLE – Eberle Ferrell, Director of the Belmont County Board of Elections, stated this week there are five potential candidates for the Barnesville Council November ballot. Four, four-year terms will be on the ballot this fall.

Earlier this year, current Council President Tony Johnson, filed for reelection as a Republican. Since there were no other candidates, his name did not appear on the May 6 ballot.

Filing as independent candidates by the Monday, May 5 deadline were four candidates

They are:

  • Bradley English
  • Mark A. Lucas
  • Timothy McKelvey
  • Leslie Tickhill

The petitions for these four will be reviewed and subject to certification at the June 23, 2025 meeting of the Board of Elections.

Once that hurdle has passed, the final slate of candidates will be set for the November 4 general election.
