Excerpts from the Barnesville Police Department log May 5 through May 11 are reported below.

Monday, May 5, 2025

9:52 am – Sycamore Street caller in reference a guy she has been talking with online with today.  He called her phone wanting her to send money. Advised her to cease all contact with him.

11:39 am – Dorsey Avenue caller regarding neighbor’s donkey.

12:41 pm – West Church Street resident has been receiving mail at her residence that is not addressed to her. She was advised to contact the Post Office.

6:13 pm – investigate complaint on South Chestnut Street. Report relates to two kids running around Family Dollar and no parents present. Officer did not see any kids in the area.

9:22 pm – investigate complaint from East Church Street. Loose dog near post office and water office lot. Dog is now running down alley towards Elks Lodge. Officer spoke with the dog’s owner who now has dog back. Owner advised the next time the dog is running at large, he will receive a citation.

10:03 pm – 911 hang up from East Main Street. 911 called showing it coming from the Bellstore. They advised did not sound like anything and was unable to call back.  Officer checked cameras and saw a car at one of the pumps. Spoke to Bellstore employee and checked area. Nothing found.

Tuesday, May 6, 2025

7:55 am – resident from Warren Avenue at station with a phone video of a dog in his yard. Asked if he knew who it belonged to or if it was still there. No. Advised him to call if he sees it back in his yard or the area and we will call the dog warden.

10:48 am – reference of glass in the alley between the library and legion. Street department notified.

11:51 am – vehicle lockout at Shamrock Drive.

6:49 pm – investigate complaint from Clifton Street. 911 called for an officer to respond for a male with medical issues. Things did not sound right on phone during 911 call. Squad dispatched.

Wednesday, May 7, 2025

6:17 am – traffic stop on East Main Street. Warning was given.

12:36 pm – person at station reported streetlight out and a drain is collapsing on Commodore Lane by the apartments. Advised to contact AEP and street department notified about  the drain.

1:47 pm – 911 received burglar alarm from a commercial business. Alarm company called back to cancel.

2:48 pm – out with reference to a warrant. Warrant confirmed and one suspect is in custody.

3:01 pm – consent to search vehicle and mushrooms located in pockets. Officers transporting one male.

3:56 pm -male at station to pick up chain saw from lost and found.

6:06 pm -male caller states vehicle locked out on West State Road. After some research, the call was coming from Indiana.

10:06 pm – traffic stop, North 800. Citation was issued.

Thursday, May 8, 2025

8:54 am – female caller advised there is a strange car at a vacant house on Mt. Olivett Road. Call transferred to the Sheriff’s department.

10:59 am – Ohio State Patrol called and advised there is an active domestic situation taking place in a vehicle coming from South 800. No vehicle description or names. Caller ID said negative contact.

4:38 pm – vehicle lockout on Pigeon Point Road.

Friday, May 9, 2025

9:29 am – Fire Chief and police officer met on Clifton Street due to condition of property.

1:13 pm – Barnesville emergency room advised Sargus Juvenile Center left a resident at the EM who was still handcuffed to a bed. Two employees were still with the juvenile who will be released soon after additional medical care takes place.  

1:40 pm – caller being irate yesterday and wanted to report it. Officer talked to caller.

3:31 pm – East Main Street accident. Crash in front of Dollar General and no injuries.

5:05 pm – person called asking if he should call 911 for someone having a seizure. Advised to do so.

5:24 pm – male caller reporting that he does birthdays for the kids in a retired fire truck and he has on at the park. He just wanted to let us know that they are going to hit the siren one time.

5:43 pm – female at station looking for where the squad took someone.

6:49 pm – male caller wanting to speak with an officer.

7:35 pm – traffic stop on East Main Street.

8:29 pm – Pine Lane for vehicle in the middle of the road. Vehicle is dead and officer and other people are pushing the vehicle out of the road.

10:37 pm – caller advised that someone was messing around his property.

Saturday, May 10, 2025

9:38 am – assist another unit on Leatherwood Road. Need help with a lift assistance.

10:25 am – vehicle lockout at Mt. Olivett Road.

10:40 am – investigate complaint at station. Two juvenile females want to speak to an officer. Incident occurred at Boston Road. Belmont County Sheriff deputy at station talking to juveniles.

11:19 am – person called needing the last name of an officer due to not getting his full name in the council minutes.

11:21 am – escort for parade on East South Street.

1:49 pm – animal call from Morgantown Avenue. Caller reports a raccoon is in a trap in direct sunlight behind a building. Raccoon was released.

3:24 pm – juvenile female at station needing a bandage. Band-Aid was provided.

3:56 pm – Carl Street reportedly has a truck and trailer in the road.

4:45 pm – investigate complaint from Walton Avenue. Reference to parking complaint. Attempted contact at address with negative results. A 48-hour tow notice was placed on the vehicle.

5:02 pm – caller wants to speak with an officer.

5:52 pm – animal call from Railroad Street.  Reports a dog was at large. Caller has the doge tied up at  house. Dog secured in cruiser and enroute to station.

6:53 pm – person at station to pick up dog.

7:10 pm – person called about his house being condemned. He was told to call the Fire Chief and was given the phone number.

7:17 pm – animal call, North Chestnut Street. Where a Beagle is running loose. Officer did not locate the dog.

Sunday, May 11, 2025

1:29 am – assist another unit at Belmont-Centerville Road. Requesting K9 assistance.

1:01 pm – out with two vehicles on West Main Street near hospital. Possible code 2 (urgent response), no accident.

4:54 pm – person at station completing a statement.

5:13 pm – person called to see if we cover Tacoma area. Advised to contact the Sheriff’s department and number provided.

7:09 pm – investigate complaint, Hunts Avenue. Male caller states that he was mowing his property and while cleaning the property up, he noticed that it appears someone broke into the house. Wants to file a police report.

8:14 pm – investigate complaint, South Gardner Street. Caller states there is a house on the block that has five or six cars parked on the street making it hard to find a street parking. States that one of the vehicles has not been moved for one- or two- years and it is broken down. Other vehicles are running and moving. Caller wants to remain anonymous.

10:15 pm – alarm drop, Euclid Avenue. Person called and advised residential key pad panic alarm and primary keyholder did not provide the safe word. Alarm company advised that there are two dogs at the residence. Alarm company called back reporting they spoke to secondary keyholder and they did not provide the correct safe word. They are having issues with the alarm and are trying to get it corrected. Male provided officer his ID and all is fine.

11:25 pm – investigate complaint on South Gardner Street. Officer applying a tow sticker to the vehicle from prior complaint. Note left at the station to follow up in 48 hours.
