‘Rocks JV Baseball Team Lefty Hall Tournament Champs

Grit, heart, and determination were on full display at St. Clairsville today as the Junior Varsity team came from behind to defeat St. Clairsville 8-7 and claim the Lefty Hall Junior Varsity tournament championship.
Jaxten Swallie started and pitched 3 2/3 solid innings striking out 3 Red Devils. Aidan Caldwell pitched 1/3 of an inning in relief of Swallie. Cole Atkinson held the Red Devils at bay over the final three innings to set up the comeback and earn the mound victory. Atkinson struck out 3 batters.
Down 7-5 going into the bottom of the 7th inning the Shamrocks scored 3 runs for the walk off victory.
Offensively, the Rox pounded out 11 hits. They were led at the plate by Gunner Dudzik (1 RBI) with 3 hits. Evan Wells and Jaxten Swallie (2 RBI) each added 2 hits. Nixon Smith, Jackson Vanfossen (2 RBI), Bobby Thompson, Jameson Allar each added a hit apiece.
The Championship victory was the Junior Varsity team’s 8th consecutive victory. They end the season with a very respectable 15-6 record.
Junior Varsity Team
Tuesday. May 13: Barnesville – 14, Monroe Central – 4
The Junior Varsity team defeated Monroe Central 14-4 at home in 6 innings. It was their fifth consecutive victory. Their record improves to 12-6 on the season.
Thursday, May 15: Barnesville – 10, Steubenville – 0
The Junior Varsity team made it 6 wins in a row with a 10-0 victory over Steubenville at home tonight in 5 innings.
The victory raises their record to 13-6 on the season. They will be back in action tomorrow versus Union Local at St. Clairsville in the first game of the Lefty Hall Junior Varsity Tournament. First pitch 4:30.
Friday, May 16: Barnesville – 11, Union Local – 10
The Junior Varsity team ran its winning streak to 7 games in a row with an 11-10 victory tonight over Union Local in 8 innings.
The victory raises their record to 14-6 on the season. They will face the winner of the Buckeye Local/St. Clairsville game Saturday in the Lefty Hall Junior Varsity Championship game in St. Clairsville.

Wednesday, May 14: Barnesville – 10, Shadyside – 4
The Shamrocks defeated Shadyside 10-4 Wednesday at home in 6 innings.
Dylan Blon was solid on the mound in earning the win. Blon went 6 innings striking out 4 Tigers while only walking 2.
Offensively, the Shamrocks exploded for 13 hits. Casey Carpenter (3 RBI) led the way at the plate with 3 hits. Caleb Powell (3 RBI), Blake Burkhart (1 RBI), and Jack Anderson (3 RBI) each added 2 hits. Brayden Watters, Max Miller, Dylan Blon, and Parker Sobutka each contributed a hit apiece.
The victory raises the Rox record to 12-10 on the season.
Thursday, May 15: Barnesville – 5, Caldwell – 2
The Shamrocks defeated Caldwell 6-2 on the road.
Marshall Meade was exceptional on the mound earning the win. Meade scattered 2 hits over 5 1/3 innings while striking out 4 Redskins. Cam Carpenter and Parker Sobutka pitch in relief to secure the victory.
Offensively, the Shamrocks managed 5 hits. Brayden Watter led the way with 2 hits (1 RBI). Caleb Powell, Marshall Meade (2 RBI), and Jack Anderson each contributed a hit apiece.
The victory raises the Rox record to 13-10 on the season.
Friday, May 16: Monroe Central – 4, Barnesville – 3
The Shamrocks were defeated 4-3 at Monroe Central Friday evening in 8 innings.
The loss drops their record to 13-11 on the season.
Saturday, May 17: Barnesville – 6, Shenandoah – 3
The Shamrocks defeated Shenandoah 6-3 on the road Saturday to conclude a previously suspended game.
Cam Carpenter picked up the mound win by pitching 4 2/3 solid innings striking out 4 Zeps. Brayden Watters earned the save by pitching the final 2 1/3 innings striking out 4 batters. The two combined to allow just 5 hits.
Offensively, the Rox collected 7 hits. Blake Burkhart (2 RBI), Marshall Meade (1 RBI), and Dylan Blon (1 RBI) each accounted for 2 hits. Max Miller added a hit to the cause.
The victory raises the team record to 14-11 on the season.
They will return to action on Wednesday, May 21 at home against Buckeye Local in a Sectional Tournament game. First pitch 5pm.
