Barnesville Rotary Club News
May 20 – Member Susan Lapham introduced Chris Dutton and Bill Cosco of the Dutton Cattle Company of Flushing who presented a program on Chris’s family farm and business of raising local beef cattle and a farm-to-table operation that also includes the family-owned Pike-40 Restaurant near Morristown.
Since 2016 the farm raises and finishes Akushi Wagyu beef that they are crossing with slim/Angus crossed cattle.
Dutton Cattle Company is founded on sustainable farming practices. Their operation includes 500 head of cattle on approximately 3,000 acres, grazing on pasture and finishing on grain.
The firm sells Wagyu frozen beef from the farm and online.
The Dutton family hosts Wagyu Steak Nights and an annual Dutton Ranch Night for community building, engagement, and marketing. This year’s Ranch Night is set for June 6 featuring entertainment by Tracy Byrd for the Farm-to-Table BBQ night.

- June 24 – Installation Banquet for officers elected at the June 10 meeting. The dinner will take place at the New Life Center. Social Hour begins at 5:00 with dinner at 6:00.
Barnesville Area Education Foundation News
The Board of Trustees of the Barnesville Area Education Foundation will meet Monday, June 9 at 5:30 at the Johnson House conference room on Shamrock Drive.
The most recent foundation minutes reveal the following scholarships approved by the scholarship committee and full board:
VanDyne Scholarship
BHS Senior Luke Taylor was awarded the $1,000 annual renewable scholarship. The scholarship is directed to students majoring in Music Arts/Technology.
Michael & Jane Zunick Scholarships
Four scholarships were awarded to:
Luke Taylor – Barnesville High School
Drew Gasper – St. Clairsville High School
Kambel Sall – St. Clairsville High School
Lindsey Best – Martins Ferry High School
Zunick Scholarships pay $4,000 per year renewable for four years. Any graduating senior from Belmont County who is majoring in a technical field of study may apply.
