Barnesville Area News Welcomes Josie Burkhart

Josie Burkhart
The Board of Directors of the Barnesville Area News Company is pleased to welcome Josie Burkhart as a staff writer for our local news service.
Jumping right into the work, Josie covered Monday’s Barnesville Village Council meeting and visited volunteers at the summer lunch program the following morning. Both stories are now posted on our website.
“I’m excited to be joining the Barnesville Area News Company to cover stories that matter, such as council meetings, school board meetings, human interest features and more—stories that make Barnesville and surrounding areas special”, she said.
Burkhart graduated from Kent State University with a bachelor’s degree in journalism in 2024 and spent the past year gaining professional reporting experience. The Barnesville High School alum and Malaga native welcomes the opportunity to share news the community feels meaningful.
“I enjoy writing and storytelling, and I’m looking forward to sharing news that matters and meeting new people,” Burkhart added.
“Hiring a professional writer like Josie was at the top of our first-year goals. Her presence allows for more in-depth reporting as we continue to work toward full coverage of the former Barnesville Enterprise service area,” Barnesville Area News board president Bruce Yarnall said.
“None of this would be possible if it were not for the generosity of our donors and supporters. Thank you!”
Burkhart may be reached at jburkhart@barnesvillenews.org or (740) 576-0009.
