Cheffy Drugs Owner Testifies at Statehouse

The Ohio Pharmacists Association shared association member Patrick Kovacs’ testimony at the Statehouse last week.

Kovacs, the owner of century-old Cheffy Drugs in downtown Barnesville advocated for provisions in the state budget to bring price fairness and payment transparency to pharmacy benefit managers, whose monopolistic behavior is threatening his business like so many other pharmacies in the state.

“Imagine a system where one business controls the financial outcomes of all of its competitors. That’s what we are facing right now.” “My building has housed a pharmacy since 1865. We’ve endured significant historical events such as the end of the Civil War, two world wars, the Great Depression, two global pandemics and several recessions. But yet, corporate greed is what is threatening our existence.”

A three-minute video of Kovacs’ testimony that was posted by the association may be viewed here.
