Excerpts from the Barnesville Police Department log from June 2 through June 8 are reported below.

Monday, June 2, 2025

10:24 am – report of an accident on Leatherwood and about 1-2 miles out of the corporation. No reported injuries. Transferred information to the Ohio State Patrol.

10:31 am – Ohio State Patrol requesting an officer to assist with a semi-truck in the ditch at Leatherwood. Trooper is enroute but wants us to hold the scene and assist with the accident until they arrive.

10:36 am – caller states that around the old Leatherwood Drive-In, the bridge has a chunk of concrete missing. This is not connected to the accident. Caller transferred to the Ohio State Patrol.

11:09 am – caller from North Broadway Street states they were traveling down North Broadway Street and can’t see around a car that is parked in the yard. The car is obstructing the view of Laws Street. Caller states that an accident almost happened. Caller wished to remain anonymous. Car is parked on private property.

4:46 pm – caller from Chestnut Street advised two groundhogs were fighting on her patio and then started chasing her.  She states they ran under the neighbor’s house and she is afraid. Advised she contacted the Barnesville, Ohio Police department. She thought she contacted the Barronsville Police.

6:42 pm – officer advises a stop sign at Bethesda and Railroad Street intersection needs repositioned.

7:29 pm – traffic stop at East Main Street.

7:40 pm – officer out on South Chestnut Street for a parking violation.

9:00 pm – caller advised he picked up a small female terrier on East Main Street at Beelolgy. Also said his vehicle is broke down and wants to take the dog with him and will return it to owner when found. I advised the dog belongs to one of two families in town and would send an officer due to his vehicle being disabled.

9:03 pm – officer at East Main Street collects dog, transporting to police station. Person at station to pick up dog at 9:25 pm.

9:10 pm – caller advises a man at the park appears to be slumped over the driver’s seat. While getting information, caller advised man woke up and is fine.

9:27 pm – caller states a threat made while dropping child off at a Chestnut Ridge Road residence which is out of town. Caller advised to contact the Sheriff’s department.

Tuesday, June 3, 2025

7:39 am – tanker truck on Bond Avenue struck power pole and did some damage. Tanker pulled into Certified. No lines down.

8:01 am – Fire Chief advised there will be a controlled burn off Jagger Road. Person was given okay and 911 is already aware.

10:27 am – traffic stop at East Church Street. Warning given for traffic control device.

10:28 am – caller from West Main Street needing assistance in getting a snake out of bathroom. Officers did not locate the snake.

10:46 am – male caller states he is getting texts from someone he doesn’t want to talk with. He wants a restraining order. Advised he would need to go through the courts. He is upset no one will help him get a restraining order.

10:56 am – possible domestic at Pine Lane. Anonymous caller states they can hear yelling and arguing outside between two people. It only sounds verbal. No one wants to pursue anything.

12:00 pm – caller in reference to lost debit card on Chestnut Street. Card has not been turned in. Caller advised of an outstanding parking ticket.

12:39 pm -caller in reference to lost keys to a Hertz rental car. They notified the person leasing the car. Officer returned keys.

1:38 pm – caller from West Highland Avenue requesting a welfare check.

2:30 pm – follow up in reference to welfare check. Spoke to the person and everything is fine. Person is no longer living in Barnesville.

2:38 pm – parking complaint on West Main Street. Advised occupants in vehicle to move over to the other side of the street. They advised they understood and will make that happen.

3:43 pm – 911 advised of BOLO from the Ohio State Patrol. A grey silver truck towing a vehicle is all over the roadway. They wanted us to be aware in case it gets off I-70 and heads toward Barnesville.

 5:20 pm – out at Harry Dew Road, overheads on vehicle. Vehicle is disabled and they are attempting to fix.

6:27 pm – parties at station in references to accident in Chestnut Package lot.

7:00 pm – State Highway Patrol for a BOLO on a motorcycle being driven recklessly on State Route 149. Unknown direction of travel from that point.  No stop and hold, just watching for driving habits.

7:38 pm – caller from Mulberry Street can smell an odor of natural gas in the area of Ferrell Gas. Fire Chief talked to Ferrell Gas. They burned a tank off in the morning and loosened valves. Oil left in the tank that didn’t burn off. Everything checked out and belief is odor was from the oil in the tanks.

8:11 pm – cows out on Pine Lane.

11:15 pm – caller from East Main Street in reference that her and 3 daughters in a verbal domestic situation.

Wednesday, June 4, 2025

1:32 am – caller from South Lincoln Avenue said a person is threating her husband and is making calls to beat the husband up.

 8:06 am – traffic stop at Mulberry Street.

10:04 am – advised tree branches on East Walnut Street. Street department notified.

11:27 am – caller states found a snake in his yard and was wondering what do with it and who to contact. Advised to contact the Belmont County Wildlife officer.

11:57 am – caller about snake in yard called back and advised Wildlife Officer didn’t answer phone. I advised him the number 800-wildlife.

2:17 pm – traffic stop at South Chestnut Street. Warning given.

2:28 pm – traffic stop at East Main Street.

 2:56 pm – alarm drop at Railroad Street. Talked with keyholder and provided incorrect passcode. Alarm company called back and advised they can cancel and all is okay.

3:02 pm – traffic stop at Mulberry Street.

4:15 pm – subject at station referencing dropping of items to ex. Officer advised he would be in the area if any problems to call.

6:30 pm – Kennard Avenue referencing a guy riding a dirt bike on North Street.

7:36 pm – person at station advising unable to get her son’s disabled BMW at the park until Friday morning.

8:48 pm – caller from Waterwork Road advising he thinks someone is stealing his mail or it isn’t being delivered. I gave him the phone number for the post office.

8:49 pm – traffic stop on East Church Street.

9:35 pm – traffic stop on  South Chestnut Street.

Thursday, June 5, 2025

8:12 am – traffic stop at Walton Home.

9:12 am – traffic stop on South Chestnut Street.

9:45 am – manhole cover off at intersection of Henderson and Clifton Street. Street department notified..

11:31 am – caller from Henderson Street wants a person removed from the residence due to the man tearing things up. Officer talked to both parties and nothing physical and both have calmed down.

11:53 am – 911 was advised by the Monroe County Sheriff’s department that a crocket rocket on 800 heading towards the village was  going approximately 100 mph. Advised officers and check cameras and negative contact.

1:04 pm – Morgantown Avenue, medical emergency call for a fall injury.

3:26 pm – male at station advising the manhole cover at Clifton and Franklin and advised he fixed the issue. He was advised to call the water department if it happens again.

7:10 pm – warrant service at East Walnut Street. Attempting to make contact with a person.

10:20 pm – caller reporting that the scoreboard at the park is on. Park director notified.

11:32 pm – traffic stop at South Arch Street. Officer observed ATV sitting at the Bellstore and also observed on village cameras.

Friday, June 6, 2025

2:30 am – suspicious vehicle at the park. Multiple people sleeping in 3 vehicles. I advised them the park is closed and will be doing extra patrols.

3:12 am – North Arch Street. Will be giving parking ticket.

3:18 am – West Main Street. Will be giving parking tickets.

12:48 pm – traffic stop at Railroad Street. I advised the vehicle owner that she can’t park where she was parked.

4:02 pm – report of 2 4-wheelers coming into town by the hospital. Negative contact.

4:09 pm – vehicle lockout at Park Street.

8:18 pm – female at station stating she lost the pool meter for filling up pools. She was wondering how much it would cost to replace it. I advised her to call the water department.

9:22 pm – caller from North Chestnut Street about bats flying around in the house. Person needing assistance with getting them.

9:50 pm – caller from South Gardner Street states a bunch of kids riding side by sides at the car wash yelled at him when driving by and acting like fools.

Saturday, June 7, 2025

1:46 am – alarm drop at East Main Street. Rear motion negative contact, all secure.

8:18 am – male at station advised license plates were lost or stolen. He resides in Guernsey County. Aadvised to contact the sheriff’s department in Cambridge.

9:24 am – street grate drain falling in on Commodore Lane. Advised to call the water department.

10:22 am – caller reported a domestic that happened last night at her residence. Transferred call to 911 since the incident occurred out of our jurisdiction and made an officer aware.

11:00 am – unattended vehicle at South Broadway Street with engine running. Contact made with the owner and will be moving.

11:33 am – caller from Grey Lane asking if we could pick up a dog in the area. Advised negative unless dog was being aggressive. I asked if she knew owner and she replied negative. Dog owner called in and asked of any report of a dog loose and the current location.

11:59 am – dog owner again advised they didn’t locate the dog. Advised her would let officer to watch out for and call if located. Advised officer.

12:43 pm – traffic stop on East Main Street.

5:05 pm – caller from Pine Lane reporting a vehicle traveling excessive speeds 40-45 mph down the street. Officer did not see vehicle in question but noticed many cars parked on Pine Lane where they are not suppose to be parked.  Officer made contact with resident’s vehicles and vehicles will be moved.

Sunday, June 8, 2025

12:11 am – Humane Officer wants an officer to assist with a humane check at East Main Street.

9:13 am – medical emergency at Henderson Street.

3:40 pm – female caller advised there is a missing child from Walnut Street. She doesn’t have much information. Officer advised there are several people out looking for the boy.  The boy wondered out the back door. Child was located at 3:53 pm. After triple checking the house, the child was under a blanket sleeping.

5:56 pm – traffic stop on North Arch Street. Consent to search.  Passenger has paraphernalia on person. Seized paraphernalia.

7:55 pm – caller from Commodore Lane requesting an officer to her apartment. She states wanting to talk to an officer about a theft that occurred. She states her rent money order was stolen from her apartment. She called back and stated she found her missing money order and just misplaced it.

9:55 pm -male wearing all black walking towards town on 800 in a bad spot just past Certified. Suggested officer inspect but caller ask it not be posted.

10:26 pm – caller states car broke down on 800 near the Drive Inn on 147 in the middle of the roadway. Transferred caller to the Ohio State Patrol. Ohio State Patrol called asking for a better location or address for the disabled vehicle.
