New Spa Brings Beauty to Barnesville

Barnesville’s new spa, Aire Beauty Bar, opened last month and brings new aesthetic services to the community.

Owner Ava Hanes officially opened the spa with a ribbon cutting on May 10 at 123 N Chestnut St. Suite C in Barnesville.

Hanes is working alongside other beauty enthusiasts who are renting out spaces in the spa independently, including Halle Markovich, Addison Gregg and Tessa Howiler.

Hanes attended the Elite Academy of Hair Design in Bridgeport alongside Markovich from October 2023 until they graduated in April 2024.

Hanes is an esthetician, which is a licensed professional who specializes in skin health. She offers a variety of facials, such as relaxation, custom and targeted facials, head spas, spray tans and eyelashes and eyebrows services.

Just like Hanes, Markovich attended the Elite Academy of Hair Design to become an esthetician. She offers full body waxing and makeup services along with eyelashes and eyebrows services as well. After graduating from the Elite Academy of Hair Design, she became certified in permanent makeup, which Hanes is hoping to offer in the future at the beauty bar.

Markovich loves beauty and aesthetics because she wants to make people feel beautiful.

“I’ve always known that I wanted to go into beauty and I wanted to do something along with

that,” Markovich said. “I love to make people feel beautiful.”

Meanwhile, Gregg attended Mason Anthony School of Cosmetology in Westerville. She serves as the beauty bar’s professional nail technician, offering nail services such as gel X and builder gel nails.

Howiler is serving as the licensed massage therapist at the spa and graduated from the American Institute of Alternative Medicine in 2008. She offers a variety of massages, specializing in deep tissue.

Hanes said Barnesville doesn’t really have anything like this spa in the village with facials and full body waxing, so she wanted to offer more services here and give the Barnesville community more to do.

Hanes said she dealt with acne growing up, which made her insecure as she wasn’t sure how to treat it. After trying many different products, she damaged her skin, which prompted her to want to help other people heal and treat their skin. She added she wants to spread more information and education on skincare, including how to treat the skin properly.

“A lot of people don’t really know how to treat their skin properly,” she said. “So that’s something I like doing, making people feel good about their skin and comfortable in their skin.”

Hanes felt there was a need for these beauty services in Barnesville because everyone she’s talked to has to go to St. Clairsville or Cambridge and make a whole day out of it. She added it’s harder for the clients to communicate their needs and being at the beauty bar, they can feel more comfortable because they know the girls who work there.

She said the beauty bar has been operating smoothly and been doing well since its opening, being booked up daily with appointments. All of the services from each of professionals along with prices can be found at airebeautybar.glossgenius.com where people can book appointments, too. People may also call 740-213-8166.

The opportunity came about after Hanes’s dad, Marc Hanes who works for Jefferis Construction, was working on the Aire Beauty Bar building, and it became available for lease. Marc sent Ava a text asking if she wanted the Suite C to open her own business.

“It was an opportunity I couldn’t pass,” she said. “I thought about it for weeks, but ultimately I just went with my gut and went for it, and so far, everything’s turned out amazing.”
