John Edward Dingus

John Edward Dingus Sr., 80, of Fairfax, VA, formerly of Batesville, OH, passed away on Wednesday, July 2, 2025, after a long battle with Parkinson’s disease. John was born on September 1, 1944, in Newcomerstown, OH, the son of Ernest and Isabella Dingus. He graduated from Batesville High School in 1962 and married Jennifer Sue Cramblett on April 17, 1965. John had a distinguished career with The Davey Tree Expert Company, where he left a lasting mark on the landscape in and around Washington, D.C. Major projects included several memorials (World War II, Korean War, Franklin Delano Roosevelt, Air Force) Arlington National Cemetery, the Pentagon, the Federal Reserve, the National Christmas Tree, and the White House. Beyond the D.C. area, some other significant projects included the Moline, IL, John Deere Plant, SeaWorld, and Interstate 70.

He is survived by his sons, John (Shannon) Dingus Jr. of South Riding, VA, and James (Candice) Dingus of Knoxville, TN; his grandchildren, Grace Dingus Foote and her husband, Andrew, Ben Dingus and his fiancée, Rebecca, Nathan Dingus, and Andrew Dingus; his sisters, Brenda (Phil) Lane of Quaker City, OH, and Bettie Roe of Salesville, OH; and many nieces and nephews. John was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 50 years, Jennifer Sue Dingus; his son, Jason Ryan Dingus; his brother, James Herman Dingus; his sister, Bonnie (Dingus) Howiler; and many dear friends. John was truly blessed to receive the best care in his home over the last ten years of his life, thanks to Maria Argueta and her incredible army of loving people. The family offers their deepest gratitude to all who cared for him and loved him.

Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 12, 2025, at Demaine Funeral Home (10565 Main St., Fairfax, VA 22030). A service will begin at 1:00 p.m., followed by a processional to Stonewall Memory Gardens for entombment (12004 Lee Hwy, Manassas, VA 20109). After the cemetery, all are welcome to attend a gathering at King of Kings Lutheran Church (4025 Kings Way, Fairfax, VA 22033).
