Matthew Paul Pierce

Matthew Pierce, 55, of Philo, Ohio, passed away peacefully at his residence on July 13, 2025.

He was born on November 6, 1969, in Barnesville, Ohio. He was raised in Frazeysburg, Ohio, by his parents Robert and Violet (Pierce)McGee.

Matthew was a dedicated union worker for The Shelly Company for many years. He had a passion for the outdoors and enjoyed fishing, turkey hunting, and riding his Harley-Davidson motorcycle.  He loved working on anything in general that needed repaired for any friends and family. He was an exceptional cook and loved preparing meals for his work crews and for church gatherings. A sports enthusiast, Matthew especially enjoyed coaching his children’s teams. He was an active member of Christian Assembly Church in Newark and was involved in every church potluck dinner, cherishing time spent with his church family. Above all, he valued spending time with his family and loved ones.

He is survived by his loving wife whom he married on October 26, 2024, Dianna Kennedy; his children, Amanda (Matthew) Mihalko and Randall (Lydia Davis) Pierce; stepchildren Alisha (Richard) Smith, Roscoe Adams, Austin (Ashley Boone) Kennedy, and Alexis (Zach) Hagans; and six cherished grandchildren. He is also survived by his siblings, Robert (Jennifer) Pierce, Dennis (Diane) Pierce, Brenda (Tony) Dostroph, Robert (Paula) McGee, James (Theresa) McGee, Judith (Jay) Lefever, and Helen (Donald) O’Flaherty, along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. In addition to his parents, Matthew was preceded in death by his sister, Vickie Pierce.

Friends may call from 5:00 to 7:00 PM on Thursday, July 17, 2025, at the Farus Funeral Home of Duncan Falls, 383 Main Street, Duncan Falls. A funeral service will follow visitation, with Pastor Tony McGee officiating. A dinner will be held immediately afterward at Anchor Lodge, 238 Mound Road, Duncan Falls.

A private graveside service will take place at a later date.
