This block building, a former auto repair garage located on Barrister Street in Belmont, served as the town’s first fire station after the department was established in 1917. Belmont’s volunteers comprise one of the oldest departments in Belmont County.
Interestingly, this building is now fully contained within the walls of the current station, according to Chief Bob Mills who shared the image before Tuesday’s groundbreaking for a new $3.4 million station for the Goshen Township community.
