Excerpts from the Barnesville Police Department log from July 7 through July 13 are reported below.

Monday, July 7, 2025

9:23 am –  traffic stop on Railroad Street.

11:30 am – traffic stop on West Main Street.

1:44 pm – traffic stop on East Main Street.

2:07 pm – Ohio State Patrol transferred a call regarding a reckless vehicle from east end near Speidel. Officers were not able to locate the vehicle.

2:43 pm – investigate complaint on Clifton Street.

3:15 pm – traffic stop on square.

3:36 pm – traffic stop on East Church Street.

4:19 pm – caller advises her dogs are now back home.

4:20 pm – traffic stop on Railroad Street. Warning given.

4:24 pm – traffic stop on Railroad Street. Written warning given for speed.

6:08 pm – traffic stop on Euclid Avenue.

7:24 pm – caller from East Main Street states that a person struck him in the face.

8:42 pm – caller from North Lincoln Avenue reports there is a white golf cart driven by children traveling the roadway and alleys. Officer was not able to locate the golf cart.

Tuesday, July 8, 2025

5:17 am – traffic stop on Railroad Street. Written warning given for speed.

7:26 am – Ohio State Patrol reports a pickup truck with a boat in tow is broken down in the middle of the roadway on Somerton Highway. Patrol requested that a Barnesville Police officer check it out because they do not currently have an officer in the area.

11:57 am – vehicle crash at entrance to the park across from the library annex at Bond and N. Chestnut.

1:03 pm – several calls received regarding power being out in the village.

1:21 pm – caller from Pine Lane reports an odor of natural gas in the area. Nothing was detected.

5:00 pm – caller advises that there is a vehicle driving recklessly on Route 800 and almost into town. Unable to read the license plate.

5:28 pm – traffic stop on East Main Street. Citation given for speed.

7:40 pm – caller from South Chestnut Street reports smoke in the area. Officer reports it appears to be a controlled burn.

7:54 pm – female at station stating that when she arrived home a strange vehicle was in her parking spot. Male was flagging her down and when she left the male then followed behind her.

5:52 pm – traffic stop on East Main Street. Citation was given for speed.

Wednesday, July 9, 2025

11:18 am – traffic stop on East Main Street.

12:13 pm – EMS requesting an officer to the scene of a medical call.

1:08 pm – person at station stating that they are being harassed.

 1:27 pm – officer on East South Street to speak with a person.

2:38 pm – caller from the Barnesville Hospital wants officers to stand by while an inmate from the Belmont County prison is being treated. Guards are with the inmate.

 3:26 pm -person at station in reference to harassment.

4:22 pm – follow up investigation on East Walnut Street. Negative contact achieved.

4:29 pm – caller asked if scooters can be driven on the sidewalk. An officer indicated, yes.

5:07 pm – Ohio State Patrol called to be on the lookout for a reckless driver. Vehicle is  tailgating and going at a high rate of speed northbound on Route 800.

 6:07 pm – investigate complaint on East Main Street.

8:08 pm – hangup from cell phone on Bond Avenue. Lots of screaming when dispatcher first answered. Upon calling back female stated her toddler had the cell phone. Officer notified that everything checks out.

 8:39 pm – caller from Captina Drive believes a neighbor has abandoned their dogs. No one has come back to check on them and caller hears barking inside the house. Officer saw a truck there earlier. People come back home to get the dogs and did not abandon them.

Thursday, July 10, 2025

8:55 am – residence follow up to harassment complaint.

11:24 am – person at station in reference to identity theft.

12:58 pm – Hilles Avenue for wellness check.

1:20 pm – EMS dispatched to Henderson Street for a medical situation.

3:25 pm – caller from Wiley Avenue reports a truck hit a line. Officer states it appears to be a phone line.

4:51 pm – traffic stop on West Main Street.

5:52 pm – follow up investigation on East South Street.

6:50 pm – disabled truck in the square blocking one lane of travel.

6:56 pm – follow up investigate on East South Street.

Friday, July 11, 2025

8:10 am – wallet turned into the station that was found on the street.

8:21 am – vehicle lockout on North Lincoln Avenue.

10:41 am – Two dogs on Washington Street have the mail person cornered on a porch. Officer advised to check for any prior dog complaints at this residence. None for dogs. Officer advised the owner that if there are any further reports about the dogs, the owners would be cited, and animal shelter would be contacted.

1:47 pm – investigate complaint at the station in reference to an incident from yesterday.

5:11 pm – traffic stop on East Main Street. Warning was given for wrong way.

5:23 pm – disabled vehicle on Bond Avenue just past Certified. Vehicle is locked out. Multiple calls received.

5:27 pm – person at station wants to talk to an officer about a possible temporary protection order violation.

7:48 pm – traffic stop on Lincoln Avenue. Warning was given for speed.

10:16 pm – vehicle rear end accident at drive thru on East Main Street.

10:41 pm – investigate complaint on South Gardner Street.

11:08 pm – officer on foot patrol on East Main Street.

Saturday, July 12, 2025

1:20 am – bikes being revved up on East Main Street. Subjects were told to take it inside for the night and keep it down.

4:04 am – traffic stop on Law Street. Citation to Mayor’s court for traffic control device.

11:34 am – central advises of a medical emergency for a choking female.

1:54 pm – traffic stop on East Main Street. Citation was issued through western division court.

4:47 pm – traffic stop on East South Street. Warning was given for expired tags.

7:39 pm – person called stating that a vehicle has been parked down at the football stadium for over a week. Caller thinks the vehicle could be stolen and wants it checked out.

7:53 pm – vehicle on fire on Bethesda Street.

8:37 pm – traffic stop on East Main Street. Warning was giving for speed.

8:59 pm – traffic stop at South Central Power. Warning was given for speed.

10:47 pm – traffic stop on Bond Avenue. Warning was given for a tailgate light.

11:15 pm – officer out at Park Lake pavilion with four cars. All are fishing at the lake.

Sunday, July 13, 2025

1:14 am – traffic stop on East Main Street. Warning given for speed.

4:06 pm – person called to follow up about the car that was parked at the football stadium.

6:19 pm – Corgi dog dropped off at the fire department, picked up and brought to the station. Owner found.

7:25 pm – caller reporting a truck is blocking Railroad Street.  Officer advised the vehicle must be moved and it was.

10:54 pm – caller from Michelli Street requested to speak with an officer.
