Barnesville Area Education Foundation Grant Report

By the Barnesville Area Education Foundation

BARNESVILLE – The Barnesville Area Education Foundation (BAEF) provides funds for local education systems and improvements that might not otherwise be available through public funding.

The Foundation has a grant review committee comprised of a chairman and individuals who are responsible to evaluate, review and approve, and or, deny grant submissions. This Grant Committee meets periodically to evaluate grants submitted by teachers and approved by principals and the superintendent.

During BAEF meetings the Grant Committee provides a summary of grant proposals submitted and approved. During BAEF November 2024 meeting, the committee provided a summary and overview of the 21 grant submissions submitted with 17 grants approved, totaling $80,099.51. Grants ranged from repair and purchase of new instruments to equipment and training tables for outdoor classes.

At the April 8, 2025, BAEF meeting the Grant Committee indicated they reviewed nine grants, approving eight for a total of $35,934.16. Grant purposes ranged from flexible seating, a kitchen set for instruction, and a new sound system for the high school gymnasium.

Feedback related to the new sound system indicates it was well worth the $29,541.00 expenditure.  Many comments have been received relating to the new and improved sound system from “It has been a wonderful upgrade,” and “very worthwhile” to “so much better, we can hear with better clarity.”

Barnesville Schools is extremely grateful for the new sound system with Superintendent Micah Fuchs providing the following comments:

“The Barnesville Area Education Foundation’s generous donation for a new sound system in the high school gymnasium has significantly elevated the quality and clarity of audio for all events. From graduation ceremonies to athletic competitions, the improved sound coverage and Bluetooth connectivity now ensure a seamless and professional experience for both presenters and audiences of all ages. This investment has transformed the gym into a fully functional venue where every voice is heard, and every moment is appreciated.”
