She lived through the difficulties of the depression and the austerity of WWII but graduated from Woodsfield High School in 1947 with an optimistic eye for the future. Nurturing her desire to help others, she enrolled in the hospital-based nursing program at the Ruth Brandt School of Nursing in Martins Ferry, Ohio, graduating in 1950 and became a Registered Nurse. In that same year, she married her high school sweetheart, H.H. Corrine was a member of St. Paul’s United Church of Christ.

Corrine’s passion for caring for others continued throughout her life. She worked for Barnesville Hospital as a floor supervisor for several years, and in Woodsfield for Dr. Ronald Christman and Dr. Donald Piatt. She was one of the first nurses at the new Women Infants and Children’s office at the old county home. After 17 years at the WIC office, she decided to retire. She and her husband bought a camper and headed to Alaska for a vacation.
They enjoyed living at their farm in Malaga and traveled to many other places in the country.
She will be remembered for her sense of humor, her generosity to others and the love she gave to the people around her.
We extend heartfelt thanks to her granddaughter-in-law, Angie Cline, whose loving care in recent years fulfilled Corrine’s needs and boosted her spirit.
