Excerpts from the Barnesville Police Department log from July 21 through July 27 are reported below.

Monday, July 21, 2025

3:40 am – alarm drop on South Chestnut Street.

8:19 am – caller from South Chestnut Street reports finding a large amount of trash in their dumpster.

10:23 am – Guernsey County resident at station advises he came here after leaving the Cambridge BMV and wants to get a title for a vehicle that he junked in that county. He was advised to contact the title department in Guernsey County.

1:59 pm – officer on North Lincoln Avenue to serve Mayor’s court notice.

2:45 pm – traffic stop on Pine Lane.

3:57 pm – caller reports her property on Franklin Street will be mowed today or tomorrow.

4:10 pm – person at station to speak with an officer.

5:28 pm – Monroe County dispatcher reports needing an officer to meet the Woodsfield squad as the patient is very combative. An officer will meet the squad.

8:10 pm – 911 reports a North Street apartment elevator alarm is going off.  When they called elevator company, they didn’t get an answer.

9:01 pm – person called to report a gray sandbox truck coming into town from Route 800 south went left of center nearly hitting them. Caller states the driver appears to be on phone. Officer was unable to make contact with the truck.

9:20 pm – traffic stop on Shamrock Drive. Warning given for expired registration.

9:31 pm – caller from Fair Street reports there were some rumblings of a fight at the park. Officer found none, and dispatcher didn’t see anything on village cameras.

10:32 pm – traffic stop on East Main Street. Warning giving for excessive smoke.

Tuesday, July 22, 2025

2:00 am – investigation on Mackey Drive, officer taking a theft report.

9:15 am – Station 12 (Barnesville) is on air waiting for a crew to investigate a smoke alarm. Officer on scene with homeowner. Everything is okay.

11:16 am – crash reported at intersection of North Arch Street and Church Street.

11:22 am – person at station reports that she went to pick up her son from football practice and her husband had already picked him up.

12:34 pm – caller states a brown and white goat in the area of Doudna Orchards off Fairmont Street. Caller advised one was running loose over the weekend and was unable to catch the goat.

12:45 pm – caller from North Lincoln Avenue requests a wellness check for a neighbor. Caller reports that he is not answering his door with all vehicles present. Officer was unable to make contact at the door. Forcing entry achieved. Male fell in the bathroom, is alert and needs EMS to check him out.

1:15 pm – female caller wants to know if we have any pending charges against her. We do not.

1:40 pm – caller from Pine Lane regarding domestic trouble. Window and back door are busted with person in the backyard trying to leave by car.

2:23 pm – Coleman Services health agency at station to speak with an officer.

5:39 pm – caller asks who is responsible for veterans’ banners…the Barnesville American Legion.

6:30 pm – golf cart inspection underway on West South Street.

Wednesday, July 23, 2025

8:05 am – 911 reports a hang up call. Child was playing on laptop and accidently dialed 911.

8:10 am – caller reports a vehicle has been parked next to a handicap spot since Sunday.

8:12 am – caller from South Lincoln Avenue requests assistance to jump a battery.

8:15 am – caller from Railroad Street reports workers are installing water and sewage lines across their property.

8:21 am – officer at East Main Street Parking Lot regarding parking complaint.

9:55 am – Ohio State Patrol attempting to make contact at a Fair Street location.

10:53 am – Monroe County dispatcher requests K-9 for a traffic stop at Somerton on Route 800. K-9 officer off duty, however.   

10:57 am – caller from Bond Avenue reports if she has her three dogs out in fenced yard sometimes people will come from the sidewalk to the fence. Wants to know if she can put up a no trespassing sign. Yes, she can post such a sign.

11:09 am – accident in the Youth Center lot. Officer advised he will take a private property crash report from both parties.

11:39 am – caller reports a person is there speaking with her son on the phone. Son is crying due to the father yelling at him heard in the background.

11:45 am – caller reports they are in front of a doctor’s office for the past ten minutes and someone left a dog in a car. Dispatcher asked which doctor’s office. The office is in St. Clairsville. St. Clairsville police department number provided.

12:24 pm – caller from Morristown states he gave money to another guy to buy parts and hasn’t been able to reconnect with him. Officer answered the call and advised him to contact the Belmont County Sheriff’s department.

12:24 pm – caller from East Main Street reports three utility lines are low hanging. They appear to be power lines. Officer will check it out and contact the appropriate utility company.

12:49 pm – in reference to down lines from previous post, they are Comcast or ATT lines. Both companies contacted to check lines.

2:15 pm – officer advised of a vehicle traveling north around Flatrock Road possibly heading toward Barnesville.

4:24 pm – caller from McGhee Lane states that there is a white goat with tags ramming her vehicle. Dispatcher contacted a person on Warren Avenue who has goats. It is not his goat.

4:37 pm – A person from Shamrock Drive also indicates it is not their goat. They stated it was maybe a 4-H goat.  Shamrock Road owner also heard that one jumped out of the window at the sale barn recently.

5:44 pm – caller from earlier reports states the goat is in her driveway now laying down but still ramming her vehicle. Attempted to contact sale barn but no one present to answer call.

6:07 pm – 911 call from Morgantown Avenue. No one is answering on call back. Either a dirt bike or lawn equipment is heard in the background. Officer checked out the area and found there were people mowing. Officer spoke with the employees of a lawn care business, and they didn’t make the call.

7:07 pm – caller from South Chestnut Street business request an officer regarding an ex-employee showing up, screaming, yelling and causing problems.

7:24 pm – follow up investigation on Dusty Lane in Warren Twp.

7:25 pm – 911 called reporting they received calls from the elevator at the Manor apartments with no contact achieved. They had previous calls the other days, too. Everything checked out.

7:31 pm – person at the station requesting a welfare check on tenant. She reports tenant is sending weird messages to her.

7:39 pm – person called back wanting to talk to an officer about the welfare check she previously requested.

8:05 pm – officer at the park lake regarding three kids swimming in the lake.

8:38 pm – a group of kids at station saying they got a summer challenge and need a photo with an officer. An officer agreed to the photo request.

10:27 pm – officer notified a golf cart driving over the T-ball fields at the park. Driver is now headed to park lake. Golf cart is occupied by five juveniles.

10:40 pm – caller asking if they need a permit to install an alarm system at house. Advised negative.

Thursday, July 24, 2025

8:01 am – caller reports possible power or cable line down near airport. Officer states it is a power line. Dispatcher contacted AEP.

8:37 am -goat from the sale barn is now on McGee Lane.

9:33 am – officer on West Main Street for a golf cart inspection.

9:42 am – caller from East Main Street reports there is a vehicle collision in front of the Senior Center. Hissom’s is enroute to tow two vehicles. Driver pulling from N. Lincoln onto E. Main issued a citation.

12:44 pm – female at station to speak with an officer about ex-boyfriend breaking into her apartment.

4:26 pm – person called from East Main Street to 911 reports his truck was stolen.

 9:26 pm – traffic stop on Bethesda Street extension.

9:28 pm – vehicle lockout on West Main Street.

9:49 pm – traffic stop on East Church Street. Positive 15 out of Carrol County Sheriff’s department.

10:24 pm – male at station stating he was jumped in Egypt Valley tonight by another male. He has marks on his face and was punched by another individual. Belmont County Sheriff’s department contacted.

11:01 pm – officer out assisting Belmont County Sheriff’s department attempt to locate an individual in the Waterworks Road area.   

Friday, July 25, 2025

9:01 am – traffic stop on North Broadway Street. Warning given for registration.

10:26 am – caller reports a turtle is in the roadway near Ohio Street and East Main Street. Officer moved turtle.

10:44 am – 911 hang up call from Bond Avenue. No answer on call back.

11:42 am – 911 received a call from the Guernsey County Sheriff’s department reporting a bank robbery in Quaker City.

1:07 pm – caller reports a tree is down across West Main Street following storm.

1:12 pm – caller reports a tree is down on Leatherwood due to same storm. ODOT notified.

1:15 pm – Highland Avenue caller reports power is out from storm.

1:20 pm – Ohio State Patrol reports tree is down on South Chestnut Street. Water department notified.

1:21 pm – female at the station reports a tree is down on West Main Street.

1:25 pm – Guernsey County Sheriff’s department asks if an officer can meet squad at the hospital.

2:13 pm – caller reports low hanging lines. Officer responds they are ATT’s lines and company has been notified.

3:07 pm – report of an accident on Hunts Avenue. No reports of injury.

 3:47 pm – caller on West Main Street reports there is a truck next to their building with animals inside. Truck has been parked there for 30 minutes with windows rolled up. Officer located the owner and dogs are fine.

 10:42 pm – call came through to station, but the caller hung up. Line 2 also rang, and it was the same caller. Caller asked about noise ordinance.

Saturday, July 26, 2025

12:24 am – caller from North Chestnut Street reports they found a black and white dog. Owner is going to the station to retrieve their dog.

12:40 am – officer out on Vine Street assisting e-squad.

8:45 am – officer on South Broadway Street assisting the e-squad.

2:18 pm – 911 called and asked if an officer could go to the hospital and help a deputy with handcuffs. He is having issues with them.

8:28 pm – officer out on Ohio Street regarding a trash fire. Officer was advised to put out the fire.

8:37 pm – caller reports her husband got aggressive. She called the sheriff’s department, and they told her to call the local police department. She lives on Sandy Ridge Road (out of corporation). Advised to call the sheriff’s department.

8:49 pm – car is blocking fire hydrant on Franklin Street. Officer had owner move the vehicle.

9:31 pm – traffic stop on East Main Street. Warning giving for expired registration.

Sunday, July 27, 2025

4:12 am – officer out on Pike Street assisting e-squad.

10:20 am – Mulberry Street parking complaint.

1:45 pm – traffic stop on East Main Street.

2:45 pm – trash fire on Euclid Avenue.

2:56 pm – traffic stop on North Arch Street.

4:34 pm – traffic stop on East Main Street. Warning given for speed.

8:31 pm – traffic stop on North Broadway Street. Driver of a side by side instructed to take it home and park it.

11:25 pm – officer in pursuit of a vehicle going at an excessive speed. Vehicle stopped on Route 147 near Speidel. Deputy on scene. Tow truck requested.
