Gerald Eugene Yeater

Gerald Yeater, 79, of Bethesda, Ohio, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on Tuesday, August 5, 2025. He was born on June 7, 1946, in Martins Ferry, Ohio, the son of the late Dorothy Holland and Henry Yeater.
Gerald was a retired heavy equipment operator with the Ohio Valley Coal Company, where he worked with dedication and pride. A true outdoorsman, Gerald loved spending his time in nature. Whether shooting his guns or attending turkey shoots, he found great joy in the simple pleasures of the outdoors. Gerald loved spending his Sundays rooting for his Miami Dolphins. He was a member of the East Richland Friends Church and held his faith close throughout his life.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Kathy Johnson; brothers, Dennis and Bob Holland; and his granddaughter, Jessi Phillips.
Gerald is survived by his loving wife, Ruth Ann Yeater of Bethesda; his daughters, Jackie Phillips of Flushing and Julie (Jerry) Yeater of New Athens; his son J.R. (Jamie) Yeater of Westerville, Ohio; grandchildren, Ryan Phillips, Robbie Johnen , Preston Yeater, Peyton Yeater, and Ellie Fleming; and great-grandchildren, Hailey Deramo, Haiden Deramo, and Brynleigh Fleming; plus all of Ruth Ann’s family who loved Gerald dearly and he loved them too.
Per Gerald’s wishes, no services will be held. Gerald will be remembered as a man who loved his family, the outdoors, and the quiet life he built. Wilson Funeral Home, Bethesda Chapel, 322 North Main Street, Bethesda, Ohio 43719 is honored to assist the family.
