Governor Authorizes Disaster Funds for Monroe and Noble Counties

COLUMBUS, Ohio — Gov. Mike DeWine this week authorized use of the State Disaster Relief Program to help 12 Ohio counties hit by storms and flooding earlier this year.
The program will reimburse local governments and eligible private nonprofit organizations in Athens, Clermont, Fairfield, Hamilton, Jackson, Lawrence, Meigs, Monroe, Noble, Scioto, Shelby and Washington counties for costs tied to repairs, debris removal, and emergency protective measures.
The weather events prompting the aid occurred over three time periods:
Feb. 14-16: Jackson County
March 30-April 10: Athens, Clermont, Hamilton, Jackson, Lawrence, Meigs, Monroe, Noble, Scioto, Shelby, Washington
July 26-28: Fairfield County
According to the governor’s office, the SDRP is meant for cases where damage does not meet the threshold for federal disaster aid but qualifies under state requirements. Funding is authorized for counties that meet a countywide per capita damage indicator.
DeWine’s approval allows the Ohio Emergency Management Agency to request the funding from the Ohio Controlling Board.
