Paving Project Underway
The long anticipated paving project of State Route 147 south from East Main Street to the corporation line at Hilles Avenue got underway early Friday morning.
The project, funded by the Ohio Department of Transportation, answers the prayers of many who have complained on social media in recent months about the rough conditions of the roadway.
Village Administrator Roger Deal told councilmembers at Monday’s meeting the general contractor of the project is NLS Paving, Inc., of St. Clairsville.
The project is expected to finish up by September 30, according to the ODOT website projects page.
During the grinding stage of the project at various locations, the original brick street surface that dates to the 1890s is visible.
