Lawyer Opens Practice in Bethesda

Todd Kildow, a 30-year practicing attorney, opened his own law practice in his hometown of Bethesda where he will serve clients throughout the area.

He officially opened Kildow Law Office Aug. 2. at 310 Second Street, Bethesda. He’s been working long hours since the opening to catch up on work but is happy to bring service to the area, he said. He added many of his clients are from the Barnesville and Somerton communities.

Kildow said he’s in the business of helping people. He noted the western part of the county and Monroe County are short on lawyers.

Kildow built the office building in 2006 knowing he would eventually open his own practice. It was built for his Barnesville clients because he worked in Wheeling at the time.

Kildow graduated from the University of Mount Union in 1987. His first job at Yellow Grade Trucking wasn’t a good match so he decided to go to law school. He started his legal career with Lodge Hanlon in Barnesville in 1992. The following year he graduated from Ohio Northern University Law School and passed the bar exam.

Kildow worked with Hanlon’s firm from 1993-1997. He then moved to Phillips, Gardill, Kaiser & Altmeyer Law in Wheeling as a partner. After working in Wheeling for several years, he landed a job with Emens Wolper Jacobs & Jasin Law Firm, which is based in Columbus but has an office in St. Clairsville where he worked until recently.

Kildow works as a sole practitioner. He jokes with others that this is his “retirement gig” although he is far from retired and will probably do this work for the rest of his life.

He does work in real estate, estate planning, such as wills and trusts, state administration/probate, general civil litigation, contracts, small business, collections, foreclosures, Medicaid planning, appellate and oil and gas. Business clients include Belmont Savings Bank and Bayer Heritage Federal Credit Union.

As a sole practitioner, Kildow can partner with other lawyers on certain cases. As an example, he is an expert witness on a real estate matter in Cambridge that another lawyer hired him for.

Kildow’s phone number is 740-359-3348 and email is tmkildow@gmail.com.

“I really believe in being in the business of helping people,” he said. “If you’re helping people, money will come. You don’t have to really worry about that because good people will seek you out. I’ve always lived by that rule.”
