Rainbow Bridge Added to Dog Park

ST. CLAIRSVILLE – A Rainbow Bridge was unveiled and dedicated this week at the Belmont County David M. Lucas Dog Park on SR 331 north of Belmont College and the Belmont Career Center.

The bridge is in memory of Shirlee Farkas, mother of Sherry Van Tassel, assistant prosecuting attorney of Ohio County, to honor her love of animals.

The inspiration for Van Tassel was a similar bridge near Asheville, NC, that was washed away in Hurricane Helene last fall.

Similar to the bridge lost, owners who have lost their pets may leave collages, tags and other items of their late companions on the bridge.

Donors for the Rainbow Bridge at the time of dedication are recognized on a sign. (David M. Lucas Dog Park photo)

Donations for the park and its features are welcome. Donations may be sent to The David M. Lucas Dog Park & Recreation Fund, P.O. Box 154, St. Clairsville, Ohio 43950.
