John Wayne Carpenter

John Wayne Carpenter, 79, of Barnesville, Ohio passed away on Saturday, August 23, 2025 at the Walton Home. He was born in Barnesville on September 5, 1945, to the late Hila and Civilla (Stephen) Carpenter.
John was a 1963 graduate of Barnesville High School. Following high school John was drafted in the United States Army, where he served during Vietnam. John was retired as a heavy equipment operator and a member of the Boston Church of Christ. Throughout his life he worked as an instructor for the hunters safety course and the Flatrock Sportsman Club. John was always helping people out, plowing gardens, and shoveling driveways. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and just staying busy. John loved his family more than anything.
In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his son, John Glenn Carpenter on July 24, 2017; granddaughter, Raven Jae; and brothers, Melvin Carpenter and Marvin Carpenter.
John is survived by his wife, Rose Ann Carpenter whom he married August 1, 1965; daughter, Shannon McEndree; grandchildren, Caitlyn Rose Carpenter and Peyton Rosemarie McEndree; great-grandchild, Darren Robin Hardy; brother, Vallas (Helen) Carpenter; sister, Melva Howell; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitiation will be held Tuesday, August 26, 2025 from 10:00am until the time of the service at 1:00pm with Pastor Derrick Stephens officiating at Campbell-Plumly-Milburn Funeral Home, 319 North Chestnut Street, Barnesville, Ohio 43713. Burial will follow at Crestview Cemetery where military honors will be given by Belmont County Veteran’s Association.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Walton Home or Hospice of Guernsey.
