Upcoming Area ODOT Projects

NEW PHILADELPHIA – In addition to the ongoing paving project on SR 147 (South Chestnut, East Pike streets and Leatherwood Road) in Barnesville several other projects in the area will take place as early as this week, according to an August 22 release by the Ohio Department of Transportation.
Current and upcoming road closures and restrictions for Belmont County are listed below. Click on each route to see the location at OHGO.com.
- State Route 147 upcoming closure east of Jacobsurg: Starting August 25, State Route 147 will close four miles east of Jacobsurg from Scales Road to Tar Run Road for a slide repair project. Traffic will be detoured via SR 149 north to SR 9 south, SR 9 south back to SR 147, and reverse. The completion date is August 29, 2025, weather permitting.
- I-70 nighttime resurfacing project: A project to resurface a five-mile section of I-70 from the Belmont/Guernsey County line to just east of the I-70 rest areas. The contractor will complete this work during nighttime hours. Lane closures will be utilized during construction from 7:30 p.m. to 6:30 a.m. The completion date is October 31, 2025.
- State Route 147 upcoming closure west of Jacobsburg: Starting September 2, State Route 147 will close one mile west of Jacobsburg from Watt Road to Durigg Road for a slide repair project. Traffic will be detoured via SR 149 north to SR 9 south, SR 9 south back to SR 147, and reverse. The completion date is September 5, 2025, weather permitting.
- State Route 148 slide repair: A project to repair a landslide along the North Fork of Captina Creek located just north of Township Road 70 in Wayne Township. The width restriction is 10 feet. The completion date is October 31, 2025.
