Eleanor Elaine (Williamson) Wilson

Eleanor Elaine (Williamson) Wilson, 87, of Jerusalem, Ohio, passed away Saturday, August 23, 2025, at the J.W. Ruby Memorial Hospital, Morgantown, West Virginia.

She was born January 25, 1938, in Beallsville, Ohio, a daughter of the late Oliver “Kimmie” and Hester (Brown) Williamson.

Eleanor was a graduate of Beallsville High School Class of 1956.  After graduation, she was employed by Columbus Mutual Life Insurance in Columbus, Ohio.  Upon returning to Monroe County, she worked in the Accounting and Insurance Departments at Ormet Corporation in Hannibal, Ohio.  Eleanor was also a Clerk/Treasurer for the Village of Wilson, Ohio, and served for 37 years as Secretary/Treasurer of the Jerusalem Cemetery Association.  Eleanor retired after 17 years as Office Manager of the  Switzerland of Ohio Water District located in Jerusalem, Ohio.  In her spare time, she loved to read, sew, crochet and needlepoint but her greatest joy came from simply spending time with her family.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 56 years, Richard Moore Wilson; a sister, Donna Joan Strauch; a brother, Earl Williamson; an infant grandson, Brock Wilson; sisters-in-law, Kelly Williamson and Jean Wilson; brothers-in-law, David Strauch, Rick Kennedy, Robert Wilson, and David Wilson; and a son-in-law, Scott Christy.

Surviving are two wonderful children, Bradley Wilson and Cathy (Wilson) Christy; two sisters, Irma Kennedy and Melba (Jess) Ward; and the joy of her life, her grandchildren, Nicole (Chad) Kocher, Anessa Wilson, Michaela, Faith, and Morgan Christy; two great-grandchildren, Gabrielle and Tiernan Kocher; also many nieces and nephews.

Eleanor was a member of the Jerusalem Community Church.  She was also a member of Woodsfield Chapter #268 Order of Eastern Star, and for many years she was a member of the former Beallsville Chapter #24 Order of Eastern Star.  Over the years she served in various positions in both the State and Local Chapters of the Order of Eastern Star.

Family and friends will be received at Wilson Funeral Home – Harper Chapel, 52728 Ohio Avenue, Beallsville, on Thursday, August 28 from 10:00am until time of the Eastern Star Services at 12:45pm. Funeral services officiated by Eleanor’s son, Bradley will begin at 1:00pm.  

Burial will follow in Jerusalem Cemetery.  A dinner in the church basement will be served immediately after the graveside service.

In lieu of flowers and keepsakes, Eleanor’s family requests that memorial contributions be made to Beallsville Rally for Life, c/o Kathy Rees, 46270 State Route 556, Beallsville, Ohio.
