Students from Switzerland of Ohio Local School District transfer to Barnesville

New elementary, middle and high school students have all started their first school year with the Barnesville Exempted Village School District.
Open enrollment for the 2025-2026 school year into Barnesville Elementary School brought 22 students, while the middle school brought in 29 students and the high school 28 students, all from the Switzerland of Ohio Local School District.
While the total of open enrollments stands at 195 with seven for preschool, 62 for elementary, 66 for middle school and 60 for high school, this number is similar to the 2024-2025 school year total open enrollments. Last year’s open enrollment had preschool bring in nine students, the elementary school 67, the middle school 59 and the high school 58 totaling 193 open enrollments.
“Barnesville’s Open Enrollment is a wonderful opportunity that strengthens our community by welcoming families and giving students access to a great education,” Superintendent Micah Fuchs said. “While scheduling can sometimes be complex, the positive impact of diverse connections and shared experiences makes it worth the effort.”
