Excerpts from the Barnesville Police Department log from August 18 through August 24 are reported below.

Monday, August 18, 2025

5:07 am – caller from West Main Street advised he may have left the back door unlocked at the church. Caller was wondering if the police would check it out and make sure it’s locked. Door is locked.

10:30 am – caller in regard to a manhole cover off on South Chestnut Street. Street department notified and enroute.

1:07 pm – 911 received a quick hangup from Bond Avenue. Upon call back there was no answer. Child accidently dialed on electronic device.

3:40 pm – person called in regarding someone lying on the ground in the area of the town square. Officer checked and I checked on the cameras and had negative contact.

5:18 pm – person called in regarding an SUV that is sitting in the middle of the parking lot next to Dominos. The vehicle is making it so people can’t pull in or out of the lot and has been there for a while. Driver came and moved it.

5:51 pm – female on station talking to an officer about receiving a notice of charges.

6:16 pm – 911 hangups from Ohio Street, it sounds like a little boy playing with the phone. There were 8 different calls made and upon call back negative contact with anyone.

8:14 pm – person called from South Gardner Street in regard to a vehicle has not been moved in 1 month. Made contact with the car owner and advised that the vehicle must be move every 72 hours.

11:53 pm – officer on Westview Court in regard to a vehicle lockout.

Tuesday, August, 19, 2025

9:03 am – officer on Cherry Street in regard to a traffic stop.

12:05 pm – person on station in regard to her relatives were helping her move some of her items from this property and now they are refusing to give them back to her.

1:10 pm – person called from Ohio Street in regard to a SUV parked in front of a stop sign. Upon arrival of an officer the vehicle was gone.

1:34 pm – officer on Cherry Street in regard to a traffic stop.

1:57 pm – officer on East Main Street in regard to the same vehicle from the previous traffic stop and was given a citation.

2:22 pm – person on station to speak to an officer in regard to a domestic issue.

5:13 pm – caller from South Chestnut Street in regard to a shoplifter that stole 2 bottles of liquor. Female has left.

5:59 pm – officer on East Church Street in regard to following up on theft.

9:02 pm – person called on Cole Street in regarding he noticed flashlights in an abandoned house and was wanting it checked out. Officer did not see anyone around or inside of the house.

Wednesday, August 20, 2025

11:33 am – person called in regard to an officer called her husband several months ago about recovering a fish finder registered to him. He just told her about it due to them being separated and said he couldn’t remember the department or the officer’s name.

12:44 pm – person called in regard to a customer that left there and appeared to be under the influence of something. I watched the cameras and driving habits and appears to be fine.

1:46 pm – person called in regarding that her license plate was missing from her vehicle today. She thinks it probably fell off the vehicle.

 2:27 pm – person called from I-70 and advised there were 3 cows out alongside the guardrail. I transferred the call to the Ohio State Patrol.

6:18 pm – person called in regard to wanting to get a restraining order on someone and needing advised in how to obtain the order. I advised it is obtained through the court house.

8:46 pm – person called in regard to a waterline break on South Chestnut Street around the VFW. I received 3 additional calls concerning the waterline break.

Thursday, August 21, 2025

4:29 pm – person called in regarding a jackknifed semi-truck.

4:35 pm – person called in regarding a torn out stop sign on Leggett and East Pike Street.

5:29 pm – officer making contact with a person in regard to an accident.

7:44 pm – officer on Henderson Street with the Belmont County Sheriff’s department.

8:05 pm – person called in regarding her wallet being stolen. Female called back and found her wallet.

8:17 pm – officer on Henderson Street in regard to assisting the Belmont County Sheriff’s department.

8:25 pm – officer on North Street in regard to a vehicle lockout.

9:26 pm – officer on Rice Avenue in Bethesda in regarding assistance with the Belmont County Sheriff’s department. 911 states it’s just a bunch of screaming.

Friday, August 22, 2025

8:07 am – officer on North Broadway Street in regard to a vehicle blocking the alleyway.

9:37 am – person called in from Laws/North Broadway Street in regard to a vehicle parked across the street at the corner. The vehicle parked is making it difficult for other drivers to see at the intersection. I advised her an officer will check it out.

11:15 am – officer on Bernard Street in regard to a neighbor’s vehicle that is parked in the street and blocking traffic.

12:43 pm – officer on East Main Street in regard to a traffic stop.

1:23 pm – person on station wanting to talk to an officer in regard to her purse being stolen 2 weeks ago at a party in Barnesville. I ask her what the address was and she didn’t know. I advised to contact the Belmont County Sheriff’s department since the party occurred outside of the corporation limit.

1:53 pm – I received a hangup call and on call back the call went to voice mail and the mailbox was full.

2:38 pm – person from North Broadway Street in regard to an earlier complaint of her vehicle parked obstructing view. I advised I would have an officer contact her.

3:05 pm – person called in regard to a waterline break in the alley of VFW area. I advised the person that the water department is aware.

3:05 pm – officer on North Broadway Street in regard to a parking complaint. Officer spoke to the owner and she advised she was waiting for the vehicle to be repossessed.

4:13 pm – officer on North Chestnut Street in regard to a disabled vehicle that is sitting in the middle of the lane.

4:45 pm – caller states he was on dump road and a deer ran out in front of him and he went to miss it and ended up in the ditch. I transferred the call to the Ohio State Patrol.

8:49 pm – alarm drop of general burglar at the Barnesville Hospital. I had negative contact with the keyholder. It was accidently set off.

11:01 pm – officer on East Main Street in regard to a traffic stop. Officer gave a warning for headlight and turn signal.

Saturday, August 23, 2025

12:35 am – officer on Sycamore Street in regard to a brush fire, It appears to be a controlled burn and a water source in nearby.

10:01 am – officer on Hunts Avenue in regard to a male who fled into a residence then fled the scene in an auto. The officer had his hand on the door handle just as the vehicle sped down towards Leatherwood Road. The Belmont County Sheriff’s Office assisted. The St. Clairsville Police brought in a drone and the Ohio State Highway Patrol dispatched an airplane from Akron. No one made contact with the subject. The car was found abandoned. Suspect remains at large.

12:38 pm – officer on Leatherwood Road in regard to a traffic stop.

4:25 pm – domestic trouble on East Main Street.

4:59 pm – female on station dropping off some lost dogs.

5:43 pm – officer on North Lincoln Avenue checking if the stray dogs belong there.

6:08 pm – dog’s owner on station picking the dogs up.

6:25 pm – officer on Bond Avenue in regard to a disabled vehicle.

6:35 pm – officer on Park Street in regard to a parking complaint.

7:16 pm – officer on North Street in regard to someone messing with an owner’s car.

7:33 pm – officer on West Highland Street in regard to a suspicious person.

8:15 pm – officer on East Main Street in regard to an assault. EMS requested.

8:50 pm – officer on Bond Avenue in regard to speak to a person about the assault.

Sunday, August 24, 2025

3:21 am – officer at the Park in regard to a suspicious vehicle. Juveniles are heading home.

12:13 pm – employee called in regard to a male with a backpack walking around the store. He put a rolled up blanket into his backpack from off the shelf.

1:37 pm – officer on West Pike Street in regard to a disabled vehicle. Tow company is enroute.

2:07 pm – male caller advised he has multiple fraud charges on a person. He needs a statement on file with the police.

6:38 pm – investigate complaint on Barnesville-Waterworks Road Warren Township,

11:16 pm – officer on Hunts Avenue in regard to a disabled vehicle.
