Richard Louis Kovacs

Richard Louis Kovacs, 67, of Flushing, Ohio, died Thursday, August 28, 2025, in the Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center in Columbus, Ohio.
He was born in Wheeling, West Virginia on March 27, 1958, son of the late John J. and Ida Chini Kovacs.
Richard was a retired owner and operator from R.L. Kovacs Trucking and formerly drove for his father’s company Johnida Trucking. He graduated from Union Local High School in 1976. Rich was an avid hunter and was a member of the Son’s of the American Legion in Flushing.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, John “Buddy” Kovacs.
Rich is survived by his wife of 48 years, Janice Major Kovacs; his daughter, Heather Kay Kovacs; a brother, Ronald “Bones” (Barb Pickering) Kovacs; three sisters, Joann (Mike) Barylak, Janet (Wayne) Applegarth, and Christine (Mike) Patterson; brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law; and several nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will be received on Friday, September 5th from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Toothman Funeral Home in St. Clairsville, Ohio, where services will be held on Saturday at 1 p.m., with Pastor Pete Tuchek officiating. The burial will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Lafferty, Ohio.
